Does anyone know why Magnum Rolle and Ben Voogd are not on this season's b-ball roster. I think I recall something about Voogd transfering but do not recall about Rolle.

I just saw that Rolle committed to La. Tech. Why the hell did he transfer? I know he was not the greatest player on the team, but he's only a JR this year.

Rolle transferred to La. Tech with Coach Anthony Wilson. Voogd transferred to some place in Washington or Oregon to be closer to home. Both are sitting out this year due to transfer rules.

Is that the same Anthony Wilson that played at LSU for Dale Brown in the late 80s.

Rolle and Brady did not get along and Rolle wanted to play a style of ball where he could shoot more from the outside. Brady should not and would not accomodate that for him and let him go.

First, Magnum Rolle (along with frosh recruit, DJ Wright) transfered to LA Tech to follow Nikita Johnson, former Asst Coach on Brady's staff. The reasons for his leaving were (1) largely his disagreement with Brady (largely brought on by Magnum's AAU coach) over "how to use" Rolle's talent (he couldn't hack it down low and wanted freedom to roam outside and shoot), and (2) he gets to sit a year out and go with Nikita Johnson to compete against lesser talent in a weak conference and get more PT, knowing that ARandolph (and probably at the time thinking that QT was also in the mix) is joining the fray. Clearly, he would have added some depth and got good PT this year, but I'm actually not sure I'm missing him given that Chris Johnson seems to be stepping up and is a team player and Anthony Randolph is the real deal.

Ben Voogd chalked his leaving to "homesickness" but I think behind the scenes also he was having a hard time playing with the quickness and athleticism of the SEC. And, it was hard for him to deal with Brady's system and how he was used. The funny thing is you see how Bo Spencer is playing this year, and here's a freshman getting plenty of PT and stepping up big at the PG spot. Ben went back west, was going to try to walk on at a Pac-10 team, then by playing pick up games with the Oregon players they lobbied for a schollie for him. So, he'll be in a Ducks uniform next season. I'll be curious to see whether he plays a lot...

I think with both of these guys, some would probably try to blame Brady, but now Chris Johnson and Bo Spencer seem to be flourishing in their stead... The guy I actually miss the most on THIS team is Kentrell Gransberry at USF, there's talk of him being a potential NBA pick this year. 6'8"-6'9", 260, and a rebounding and space eating monster. He's what Bobo Morgan will be for us next year!

:geaux: :bball: LSU IS A BASKETBALL SCHOOL. BE A FAN.
