He was the DC at LSU at the time. Won early, but fell fast after that

Mike was the DC, just trying to connect the dots. It would be better for Frank to get a small school job(The right job) and move up from there. From within has a bad track record, some/few have worked.

Archer was the assistant DC under Arnsparger, much like Saban when he was here Arnsparger ran the show on that side of the ball. Archer had potential, but was far too young and inexperienced. Arnsparger knew exactly what he was doing when he pushed Archer over Spurrier on his way out to be the Florida AD. His first hire as AD at Florida? You guessed it, Spurrier!

Wasn't going to go into that much detail, but that was about right. Easy to maintain a program, anyone can do it.

I wouldn't say anyone can do it, but it's easier than starting from scratch. If anyone could do it Archer would still be the Tigers HC.

Unlike Mike, Cam has been a HC at both the College and Pro level. Archer's resume was far from any of this. He has yet to get a HC job, has been a DC and position coach since he left LSU. Still a great person and coach. His LSU record.

An yes recruiting and other things were his downfall.

An I would have thought you could have plugged anyone in at LSU and maintained this program? Silly me.
