As the dominos fall, each new hire creates a new opening somewhere else. Already created an opening ant Colorado State. Whoever Michigan and Nebraska hire will be head coaches somewhere else and two new job openings are created.

So the question now arises: Would Colorado State go after Frank Wilson? Seems like a good idea for them. They are not going to get a name head coach from anywhere. Their best bet is a bright upcoming assistant. Who is brighter and more upcoming than Frank Wilson? And it could be a great opportunity for him. CSU would likely pay more than the Troy job Wilson recently interviewed for. Colorado isn't a hotbed of high school talent but CSU is the only D1 team in the state other than the University of Colorado. Since McElwane got the ball rolling there is no rebuilding job to do. Unlike some nearby states Colorado is an attractive place to spend 4 or 5 years of your young life.

With Wilson's connections in Louisiana and the rest of the Gulf Coast getting good players shouldn't be a major problem. They won't be 4 and 5 starts but he could get lots of solid players and maintain what has been established while enhancing his resume until a big time job opening comes calling.

I was aware of Air Force but they don't recruit the same players as the others. I've heard of Northern Colorado but I thought they were D1AA. I didn't even know the U of Denver had a football team. There are probably a lot of people in Denver who don't know either

I have no insight on the coaching carousel. But I love the thread title and the Van Morrison song.

Why wouldn't CSU and Wilson go together? Yes, I know that Fort Collins is a pretty redneck, cowboy town but it should still be a good place to recruit non 4 and 5 star players to. If I was a player being recruited Colorado is the one cold weather state I would even consider. And don't most college kids smoke pot?

I don't see why we don't just groom Frank to take over in a few years when Les hangs it up. He already knows the LSU system (school not playbook) and recruits his ass off. Surround him with some good young coordinators and we could be alright. He could build his future right here. At least we would know what we are getting in the future.

Was Mike brought up from inside? I remember Archer, just don't recall where he came from. Those were bad years I have tried to drink late 80s to 2000 out of my memory.
