I heard she showed up to some Dutchtown event recently with her bama gear on and got berated to hell and back.
To be completely honest, I've never understood why a black athlete would ever want to go to Ole Miss. Do they not understand what the term "Ole Miss" actually means? And are they not aware of the near race riot that happened on election night? I understand that racism exists everywhere, but shit, why would you choose a school that's named after what you would call the slave master's wife if you were a slave?
Yeh.. That is a stretch and believe we cannot cast stones in anyway shape or form. heck we almost elected the ex-grand wizard of the Ku Klux Klan as our governor. I have been to many an LSU game where I have heard things I was saddened to hear. Agreed Ole Miss has a soiled past relative to race relations but aside from some drunken frat guys today it really is a sad part of their history. But sadly of ours as well.
What I'm saying is that I fully acknowledge that racism exists everywhere, obviously in a much higher concrentration in the south/SEC, but only one school still hangs onto slavery with such fervor. I mean, their school is literally named after a term that was used by slaves. That's hard to top.
I've never thought about what the term Ole Miss might mean. I guess I always assumed it was an Old college in MISSissippi.
Yeah, and that's the intended association. But it was "Ole Massa" & "Ole Miss" to the slaves back in the day. Seems pretty ballsy when you think about it.
Nkemidiche's last tweet: @Aceboogie_001: Catch me tommrow espn 7:30 I will tell everybody where I will attend and where I'm going to work hard to make that school better . I have changed my mind. Everything sounds like ole miss. I think he's setting everyone up for a shock. I'm guessing LSU.
