What do you mean  He was hurt in preseason....we knew he was going to be out all year. I still believe he has Colston type potential...same body, build, speed, and athleticism...JMO Though I do agree we should have gone defense with our 1st round draft pick...dont really care where on defense, just defense.
First Stallworth, now Meachem. What is it with these UT receivers? I'm not ready to call him a bust just yet, but geez. Heal already.
Were you expecting more out of the draft picks this season? "It's hard to predict. You go into training camp with an open mind in regard to all these players, try not to bias yourself in any way and if you feel like a player is competing well and contributing then you pay attention to that and if not you keep developing and keep working with them. You look at Meachem (Robert), he has really in the last month progressed quite a bit. He was hampered early on and missing practice with the leg but if you look at practice now he is really coming along in this last month and a half and that's encouraging. You try to play the guys that give you the best chance to win, and that's what we will do." http://blog.nola.com/saintsbeat/2007/12/transcript_of_sean_paytons_thu_5.html From 12/6/07 Times Picayune
He's not a Reggie-level bust just yet, especially if he can lead the Saints to a competitive eating championship in the offseason.
1 year means jack. This time last year, Reggie Bush was a God and the Texans were supreme idiots for not taking him. Now, the shoe seems to be on the other foot, with Mario Williams having a great year, and Reggie Bush doing pretty much nothing with less than 1,000 total yards. A career is a marathon and not a sprint.
What you're seeing out of Bush this year is actually BETTER than you would have seen if he had been with the Texans. This year, no Deuce is exposing Bush as a Dave Meggett kind of player, even with a Pro Bowl QB. Yet somehow some folks still think the Texans should have taken him anyway. Yea, OK.
He's the starting #1 WR for a national football league team. He's a few more catches away from finishing the season with 1000 yards receiving. Things can only get better. Reggie Bush has showed me nothing his first year, except for a 4.3 speed in the open field which gave him a couple of long scores. I've heard an analyst saying Bowe could be one of the league's leading receivers if he had a decent QB that can get the ball to him, and a decent O-line that can give time for the QB. You'll be hearing a lot more about him in the next few years.
i am in no way knocking bowe. in no way. I think he will be a supreme player in this league for a long time. but it's funny you quote an analyst as saying bowe will be a special player, but you knock an analyst who says Meachum will be better than bowe. you like them... but only when they say what you want them to say.
