I have an uncle like that. He's never been a fan of any LSU coach while they were coaching for us. His McClendon rants were legendary--now, he talks about him being a legend. Miles will be the same way. His wackiness (and success) will be tailgating discussion for generations to come.
Based on CLM at media days yesterday, he praised the arm strength and throwing ability of Brandon Harris commenting specifically on the similarity between Harris and Mett. So as far as CLM sees it, he did and does have a guy ready to step right in. (To today's offense)
As I've gotten older, I notice that I analyze things a lot less than I used to. It tends to make life more enjoyable, in general. My students often comment that I don't get mad. Why bother? And the kids behave better that way. I wish I could go re-do my 20's with that outlook.
My frustrations, in instances where I felt Leslie got in the way of the team, have gotten the best of me. I can admit that. I can also admit that LSU has had great success over the last 10 years.
Doesn't every coach "get in the way of his team" from time to time? They do. Why must we nitpick every little thing with Miles and give other coaches a pass? Is it the "grass is always greener" mentality? The Les Miles era has been really fun and will continue to be that. Just accept it and enjoy the ride--and laugh when he pulls a "Les Miles."
Of course they do, however not all of them are the head football coach of the university I love. I have alot of work to do on that front. But I realize over this off season that my frustration with Miles has gotten in the way of my love for LSU football, and that is a sad thing. Let's hope one of these young QBs steps up and plays lights out football. To the point where no one cares who the back up is or who transferred.
