i dont get it i dont really give a $hit about uniforms but recruits seem too. i think it helps exposure to wear a color with ties to your team. seems hypocritical coming from tigerfans with the big hangup over gold and yellow. but really without b&w tvs anymore why make teams wear whites?
it is called tradition we're the only school in the country that still wears white at home. pretty strong tie to the school imo. because if you don't have rules in place, you'll see florida st and boston college come out the locker rooms wearing nearly identical uniforms. same with ND/Navy Arky/Bama/Georgia so you come up with a rule stating home team wears darks, and road team wears whites. no bickering, no bitching. if you want to change, you have to be granted permission. no permission? no whites.
because of the UCLA and USC "tradition" the NCAA of course hurried up and immediately made a new rule which states that both teams can wear their dark jerseys in a game if both teams agree and the colors aren't too similar. this is basically a rule that will allow USC and UCLA to wear their "home" uni's when they play each other but now anyone else can do it too. however both teams cannot both wear white for obvious reasons. (besides being after labor day you lurking jokesters)
thats not why. you can make sure they wear different colors from the oppt, or in those cases make one wear white. its because with b&w tv you cant tell the difference between red and blue.
I read an article the other day about bama & Tennessee. UT asked to wear orange at bama. bama turned them down. The SEC rule is UT can go and wear orange but will have a 15 yard penalty at the start of each half. The article was in Sporting News, I believe. Not the same as wearing white at home games but interesting. The colors have to be contrasting. I would like to see Kiffen so up in orange.
Good. I remember as a Cowboy fan how I hated it when a team forced them into the dreaded blue uniforms.
refer to my post, there shouldn't be a penalty now for this but bama has to agree and looks like they didn't.
