This is one of those I wanna be wrong on. I would hate to see both Byrd and Lafell go in the same year. As Hatcher said, he is fluid and silky smooth. He will have a tremendous NFL career.
Add me to the list of people not impressed with Stafford, and I've followed him since he played high school ball @ Highland Park in Dallas. I didn't get why everyone thought he had all-world potential. Now, Chase Daniel, on the other hand? And I HATE Southlake Carroll, his high school.
I didn't realize this list came out in April, when we as LSU fans didn't even know who would take the majority of the snaps (most would have guessed Murphy after the spring game). Mel Kiper's big board was updated as of yesterday and no LSU players are in his top 25. Brian Robiskie is #19 and Beanie Wells doesn't make the list? WTF? buckeye78? I got Robiskie projected as late 6th round.
How many times has Stafford led UGA in a come from behind victory or made some great play to win a game. I cant recall any except the bama game last year. he's got a good arm -not as good as jamarcus' of course- but that puts him up atop the scouts list. why? Im guessing the numbers dont bear it out. I wonder how good his td:int ratio iswithin just the SEC. Im thinking not so good. I decided to crunch some numbers to see if my feelings back up his stats. ok, taking his SEC play to get an accurate assessment: 234/431 54.3% 17tds 18 ints that means he has 16tds and 6ints against everyone else. there's your number 1 qb. i guess he's a heady qb with intangibles. I wonder why you've never heard stafford isnt so bright or doesnt know how to read a defense. Or locks onto his receivers too long. oh thats right, we have been told how great he is, much like USC, and believe it. the numbers dont agree. mel kiper was asked who was the #1 team in the country yesterday and he proceeded to tell us it was USC. okie dokie eddie munster.
you should break it down by each year. scouts dont care what he was like as a freshman or soph, but what he is like now. if i remember correctly he had tons of ints his first year, not unexpectedly.
understood, but why would the media tout him as one of the best QBs in the nation coming off a season that doesn't warrant anything close to that kind of respect? Lee stands a good chance of having a 20 TD 12 INT year, which would make Stafford's first year pale in comparison. I doubt you will hearing the same accolades about Lee that you did about Stafford after his first year at the helm.
Whats Charles's 40 time? If he can't run a sub 4.5, I don't think he goes first round. He doesn't appear to be "blazing" fast. I think theres a chance he comes back.
