Well they are referring to someone that counted on NSD and then didn't count anymore by the time enrollment came around. I thought that was the case with DeAndre Brown and he had to go to Southern Miss because they had less stringent requirements.
He did sign with us Twice but didnt have the grades or had clearinghouse issues....third time was with auburn
You can throw away all the star ratings, LSU had a ton of 5 star players running wild Saturday night. All-SEC Team pre-season? Need we say more? Les and his coaches have done a great job of talent evaluation. If you're offered by LSU, take it and be thankful.
islstl: Your work was much appreciated by myself and many others --- Thanks. LSUDad: I see your point, CM and staff do know what they are doing, but if anything, your point confirms that the ratings do predict well. While there may be a few "misses" when it comes to ratings, on the whole they are quite valuable and a lot of fun.
I appreciate the work too. In fact, if you still have all of the data and can easily edit that into the original post, I wouldn't mind seeing that as well. And I agree that recruiting is not an exact science and that Miles knows what he's doing, but lets face it, this just reinforces that you need top ranked recruiting classes to compete at the level of the elite. Elite programs are built on 4 star players with a few 5 star difference makers and 3 star underrateds.
Great job by the way. My point is this, 5 stars don't mean a whole bunch. Every player has the same chance. I tend not to listen to the "Paid Scouts." I talk will high school and college coaches or see the players for myself. I also like to rank the players a few years after they make it into college..... Look at this class, what players would you rank a 5 *? DE Kendrick Adams, Enterprise, Ala. (Enterprise HS/Copiah-Lincoln CC) DE Jordan Allen, West Monroe, La. (West Monroe HS) RB Alfred Blue, Boutte, La. (Hahnville HS) WR Kadron Boone, Ocala, Fla. (Trinity Christian HS) DT J.C. Copeland, LaGrange, Ga. (Troup County HS) TE Travis Dickson, Ocean Springs, Miss. (Ocean Springs HS) DL J.R. Ego Ferguson, Frederick, Md. (Hargrave Military Academy) WR Jarrett Fobbs, Shreveport, La. (Huntington HS) OL Cameron Fordham, Duluth, Ga. (Northview HS) ATH Sam Gibson, Prattville, Ala. (Prattville HS) RB Jakhari Gore, Miami, Fla. (Christopher Columbus HS) TE Nic Jacobs, Many, La. (Many HS) QB Zach Lee, McKinney, Texas (McKinney HS) LB Justin Maclin, Memphis, Tenn. (Ridgeway HS) DB Tyrann Mathieu, New Orleans, La. (St. Augustine HS) LB Luke Muncie, Klein, Texas (Oak HS) OL Elliott Porter, Waggaman, La. (Archbishop Shaw HS) DB Eric Reid, Geismar, La. (Dutchtown HS) DB Tharold Simon, Eunice, La. (Eunice HS) DB Ronnie Vinson, New Orleans, La. (Newman HS) RB Spencer Ware, Cincinnati, Ohio (Princeton HS) OL Evan Washington, DeSoto, Texas (DeSoto HS) LB D.J. Welter, Crowley, La. (Notre Dame HS) WR Armand Williams, Slidell, La. (Slidell HS) P Brad Wing, Melbourne, Australia (Parkview Baptist HS) FB Brandon Worle, LaGrange, Ga. (Troup County HS) WR James Wright, Belle Chasse, La. (Belle Chasse HS) OL are one of the harder positions to rate out of high school. We were talking last night at the Les Miles show about players that have left the state, not many as of late, have done too well. Remember Morris Claiborne, was an Ath/WR coming out of high school (Not ranked to high).
I have recruiting books from the early 80's, it is fun to look back and see the players that never did well (Can't miss/5*). Its been like this for years.
yep and for every 5 star player that never does make it, there are dozens of 2 and 3 star players that amount to little or nothing just keeping things in perspective
