I think a bunch count back to last year and he's stocking up for the next three years when they'll be limited in scholarships.
This is probably the most pertinent post in the thread. Tying in Fish's diatribe regarding the Miles bashers in, it begs the question of whether those people will give credit to the fact that over this period LSU has been more successful than USC, Texas, Georgia, Florida State, Notre Dame, Oklahoma and Ohio State? Seriously, where would you rather be? Akin to Georgia, Oklahoma, and Ohio State? Or, winning some and losing some with Bama, Florida, and Auburn?
Doesn't matter. They are still limited as to how many can be on scholly period, no matter what year they "count back" to. He's an idiot. He should've just been selective, and then used the schollies he doesn't use this year towards NEXT year. Now he's limited himself even MORE than the NCAA did for the next couple of years, and he's got a lot of 3 star players to show for it. He's really doing the rest of the Pac 10 a big favor, because some guys that would normally go to USC now won't be able to, and they'll go to some other Pac 10 school.
I did a quick check of just LSU and how they finished in the enrolled rankings, and their average only improved to 5.83 instead of 6.00. Now Bama probably takes more of a hit and would be behind us in average.
That would be true if they were running at 85 scholarships but they aren't. They have a notoriously low amount of kids on scholarship. Probably in the low 70's. They have to bring that number up before they can go on scholarship reduction or they'll get killed.
Updated the "Enrolled Rankings" for 2011 per Rivals. LSU jumped Texas and moved into 3rd place overall. Average Ranking 1. USC........... 4.50 2. Florida........ 5.17 3. LSU.............5.50 4. Texas......... 5.67 5. Alabama...... 6.17
The 5 star was prob DeAngelo Benton. Remember the mess with him and RR. He actually signed with auburn.
