After having a great year, his recruiting class is 2nd to last in the SEC - ahead of only Vanderbilt.
Gotta second that as I remember that Houston's brother Danny was credited with recruiting D. MacFadden, F Jones and other talent at Arkansas.
Wow...that guy got paid for that article?!?! That thing wasnt short either, probably took him a few weeks. And what does Nutt have to show for it...27 recruits and if not for Vandy, last in the SEC....ok Wonder when we get to see a write up on CLP??
Y'all have to remember it is Ole Miss, so if they recruit in the top 50 in the country, it is a great year. If Nutt ever went to a school with a recruiting base like LSU, he would be dangerous. He sure has made it tougher for us to win against him. I have alot of respect for the guy. FWIW
Some big time talent coming out of his programs. I know that others on the staff spend the majority of the time with the recruits (no different for Les). However, just like Les Miles, they come to a University for a number of factors. One large factor is the reputation of the head coach and if the program is winning. I surely do not believe that all the recruits Les has been bringing in, are because Les is such a great recruiter. I believe that started well before Les got to LSU. Nutt must have done something right. He sure has had our number the last three times we have played them. He surely did not out coach LM three years in a row. It had something to do with the talent on the field.
Next year's class will be good... his success came unexpected this year, and a lot of the best guys are leans before most of the season is even played, so Ole Miss never really had a shot. I'd say they did fairly well this year. I don't think Nutt is a terrific recruiter, he did get the most of his talent this year, I wasn't surprised Ole Miss had such a good year with the talent they have. Anyway, give him next year before knocking him at recruiting, he had something to do with getting DM, Felix, and others on campus.
DM was going to Arkansas no matter who the coach was...he has said this many times...so no, Nutt really didnt have much to do with getting him on campus.
I said something, not a lot . Doing something means as much as just not alienating the kid. Don't worry though, I'm not trying to give Nutt more credit than he deserves... Many of you can figure out that I don't really like the guy. I'm just saying give him this season's class. If it's good, then it shows he taking advantage of a team on the rise, if it's bad, then it reaffirms suspicions that he can't recruit well.
