It's horse**** that tOSU would start the season ranked in the Top 5 after getting soundly beat again in a bowl game. I have no problems with USC #1 seeing as they have the easiest path to the BCS title game after playing tOSU in the first game of the season. West Viriginia is also too low. Missouri had a great year but I doubt they'll reach the same heights they had this year. LSU at about 7 or 8 is right. As long as LSU starts in the Top 10, I'm fine. It's easier to move up from 7 then number 17 in the polls as the season progresses. My Top 5: 1) USC 2) UGA 3) UF 4) WVU 5) Oklahoma.
You are right in that is how it's currently done. Let me repeat that it is a VERY VERY WRONG way to do it though. It's all about ego. They want to say they picked the team that ended up No. 1 at the beginning of the year instead of letting things play out. It's one of the worst things about the way college football is right now.
I think we pretty much will enter next season just like UF did this season...Great offense but too many question marks on defense...I see our defense next year being better than Florida's defense this year but we're gonna have to wait and see.
the offense will be dynamite... The defense will have issues. The new coordinator will be put to the test. All-in-all, No. 8 is about right. But USC... No. 1? They are in the same boat as LSU, losing a lot of defense. Except they don't know if their QB is worth a darn, whereas LSU's backup has an SECCG MVP under his belt.
Yes, in a system where voters (and now computers) decide a NC instead of a playoff - the preseason polls are the beginning of the whole process & the goal is to not have to change the ballot drastically week to week.
Exactly and that is why preseason polls are useless. If you are going to make one, how can you not put the previous years' NC at number 1 preseason poll? Regardless we do have alot to answer next year since were losing so many starters, especially on defense. Well see, it should be another great year.
