Since we already have 2 of the 9 as verbals, I'm saying we will end up with 7 or 8 of the top 9 since there are only 7 remaining. Sorry, it wasn't phrased more clearly. Hopefully we get all of them, but that might be too much to ask.
I hope we could improve on our OL recruits. I wish we could make our OL as strong as our DL. USC is going to have one of the best OL ever with the commits they have right now.Almost all of the 5* and 4* star OL are almost gone. But i guess miles we handle it some kind of way.
These posts about recruiting being bad piss me off to no end. We have until February until our class will be finalized. Some of these 3* kids will be raised to 4*s. We also have a bunch of 4* kids in state that are going to commit to us, and I am sure at least one will become a 5*. So stop worrying. Jacob Hester was a 2*, Tyson Jackson was a 3*, and Brandon Lafell was a 3*. Who gives a crap what number of stars they have as long as they perform on the field.
IMO nobody is worried b/c even without certain commitments from this yr's class we have great talent on the team already to contend for the SEC and NC. There is nothing wrong with wishing, hoping or believing we could land certain top players nothing to get pissed over. PPl just want the best for the team
Too early to worry, yes, but never to early to speculate. I think sometimes people get caught up in the numbers game a little too soon. They look at the verbals we have and try to base the entire class on these players. It's more fun to watch the progression of recruits and what they say after visits and camps. Recruiting is year round.
I have been catching up on some recruiting info, and after thinking about some things I feel really good about us getting a top 10 class. I had figured we'd finish right outside the top 10 area, but I think the only way we end up that low is if a few of our recruits stay very underrated. The guys that we've gotten commitments from are ones that the coaching staff is very high on, and atleast half of the 3 stars should jump to 4. What made me start thinking about this was Kye Staley. He's a great athlete, terrific recruit that most people hope we land. But the coaches are holding off because of other prospects that we feel very good about. Add to that some other 4 star recruits that we've backed off because of what else is out there, and our coaching staff must be feeling pretty good about how things will shake out.
I'll admit last year this time I was concerned. Texas had a blue chip commit list, we didn't. The class came together REAL WELL, late. I'm not in a tizzy this year, will wait and watch. Les has always been known as a good recruiter, and his first 2 classes show that to be true.
I think that throug 2.5 recruiting classes, CLM has shown more than capable of landing solid, if not stellar talent. A lot of people's thought process is that since this year was thought by some publications/websites as a "down year" for Louisiana recruits, most thought that would translate into "down year for LSU recruiting". While the coaching staff is still in hot pursuit of Louisiana's top talent, perhaps it's just me, but I think the staffs interest in players farther away from what was normal LSU recruiting areas (Texas, Miss, Florida) and going after guys from Virginia, California, etc. And that's not to say we didn't go after players from those states before, but I think we're pushing harder to get them this year. DJ McCarthy's ties to the west coast may prove to be a great help in surprising us with some talent outside of our normal recruiting pipeline states.
