Comparing him to Michael, he is slightly ahead in my book. Michael is #28 and a 5 star currently but has not been reassessed. Look for Ford and Michael to possibly swap positions. Not sure if Michael would fall all to way into the 70s, but it is possible.
I agree. He had a terrific year this year, but actually dropped a tad in Rival's top 100. Makes no sense.
Forgive me if I'm wrong, but doesn't he have similar numbers to Richardson? Both had a 400+ yard game this season. Plus Ford's body just looks freaking NFL-ready. Dude is an animal.
A few players got a bump that were behind him, so it's not that he dropped. He was not reevaluated until this week, so the next publication will show a significant bump.
This is including Benton, correct? I think we'll land 7 and miss either Debose/Randle. I know you think Debose is a silent.. but I dunno  This class smells of :crystal: :milesmic:
this is a catch-22 right? I mean, when rivals has us ranked below other schools we often feel we still have the better class saying our coaches are better evaluators, etc. and that USC and bama are unfairly overrated. yet when its us at the top, the rankings are legit and we get all excited. shouldnt we react as if its like an AP ranking us #1? its nice and all but means nothing in the grand scheme of things. we cant have it both ways now can we.
I'll give our coaches some credit because a lot of our guys moved up and some possibly still could. But your point is valid.
Agreed. With one caveat. Being anywhere close to #1 means LSU football remains an elite program nationally. So, it means something, just not everything.
I think the coaches have done a good job evaluating talent and getting the players they want to commit. So far this year the players they are after are being regarded favorably by recruiting services. That might be gravy, but the recruits are the meat. It's important that these kids commit, qualify, and contribute in the future, which is the only real measure. If most transfer, fail, get arrested, get hurt, or just don't improve then it is a failure regardless of what a recruiting site says. If we get solid contributers from a little better than 1/2 this class I will be thrilled. They look to be talented across the board. And we look to be filling positions of need. I am curious though where all the cries for bama bias have gone with the * rise of LSU recruits this year. I guess other fanbases will be sayingthat about us this year. And we don't hear any bitching about C. Michael and him being a must take anymore, do we? I guess now that Ford had such a great season and might get a 5*, it's ok if we don't take Michael now? Why on earth would we trust the coaches to go by their own evaluations when Rivals is soooooo much better? :hihi:
