#1 Coach in the Nation, you go it, Les Miles #1 Defensive Coordinator, John Chavis #18 Wide Receiver, Reuben Randle #16 Offensive Line, Will Blackwell #7 Defensive Line, Sam Montgomery #1 Defensive Back, Morris Claiborne #3 Defensive Back, Tyrann Mathieu #21 Defensive Back, Brandon Taylor #25 Defensive Back, Eric Reid #24 Special Teams, Brad Wing Would not be surprised if it's a first for rivals to list 4 DBs from the same team. College Football Power Rankings
Right. I would like an explanation, for example, of how Brad Wing was not even in their top 25 special teamers until this week. On the plus side, all four starters in the secondary are in the top 25.
Wing is a freshman. Nobody heard of him before this year. He will get lots of love before his career at lsu is over. He very well may go down as the best lsu punter ever before he starts his pro bowl career in the NFL.
After watching the guy all year I think he's the best LSU punter NOW? The kid has amazing accuracy, an amazing leg, and gets a ton of sorority girls
One thing you have to realize about all the talking heads and ranking groups like these is that there is no way they can watch one tenth of the games played. Therefore they base their claims mostly off of final scores and what other people report. Anyone that has watched all of LSU's games would know that Wing belongs among the nations elite punters. It's hard to imagine a more effective, consistent punter out there.
The highest punter listed on the Special Teams ranking is #4 in that list (Ian Campbell of UTEP). Campbell has a 47.6 average and a 42.6 net Brad Wing has a 43.4 average and a 41.1 net
The problem with ranking based on that is Brad often has to short his kicks so he can pin them in at the 5. I prefer 5 yards shorter at that point
It lists Brad Wing as having a blocked punt this year. I can't remember that happening. Anyone remember which game and how far the punt traveled?
