I'm not sure of the truth in this. Coaches do their own evaluations. I don't know that increased media attention would increase opposing coaches recruiting attempts. It's a system based on & propogated by hype. I try not to focus on where we finish ranked at all, but rather just look at the individual players of the class & judge for myself, but that can be tough. I would certainly prefer we land in the top 10 every year, but as long as we're consistently near there & our coaches don't feel like we're settling then we're fine.

I understand that, but my point was to all of the talent we have. Like Steltz in the NCG. Coleman came in and play great. Steltz is an all-american and a vicious hitter, but we had someone who could pick up the slack when he was injured. thats all im saying.
Off subject but was anyone else surprised Steltz was an all-american. I thought he was very good, certainly all conference but was surprised he was an all-american.
I do agree with that notion. Miles has stated he expects little or no drop off in performance from our backups. However he does select these starters by some criteria, and I suppose seniority is a factor. Whatever it may be, he seems to have convinced the younger players to buy into this philosophy. I was continually surprised(pleasantly) by the attitude of our running backs towards their playing time this year. I never got any sense of disharmony at all. We are very fortunate.:thumb:
I wasnt surprised, as good as I defense was we should have had more than just 2 AA. Steltz just has football instinct, he played well in every game except Arkansas, I dont know what was wrong with him in that game. But 6 ints for a SS is pretty friggin good. I wish he was coming back next year, but we have Coleman, Jones, and more.
Fortunate isnt even the word for it, blessed. Because egos are something that are unstoppable. For those guys to really buy into says alot about our coach and the character of those guys.
