i wonder if it is a mistrial if one of the witnesses mentioned that the guy was a child rapist. like if they say "oh, you mean the child rapist?" and let the jury know who the guy is, if in fact that info is deemed immaterial to the events of the case, which i suspect it is and not allowed. like when asked a question, if KR says "well the child rapist was chasing me, i guess he finished raping the 5 children or whatever and had his sights set on me"

the victims past is immaterial in this case. Besides, KR had no idea about their past. He could not even attempt to retroactively justify his actions with that excuse.
This is true for the written law, but as a human, once you learn of these factors, you cannot tell me it doesnt trigger some type of response. The law is impartial but practiced by the partial.
the victim being recently (that same day maybe) released from a psych ward does help explain his behavior and lends credibility to the defendants claim that he was a dangerously threatening fella. seems like a relevant fact.
