I'd love to know who didn't vote for Ripken and Gwynn...Those guys are first ballot no brainers.

Exactly. The guys that vote no on all first ballots are just clowns.

also i think it is ridiculous that gwynn got less votes than ripken. gwynn is the best hitter any of us have ever seen.

Looks we all all agree on this one...

I'm not sure how Ripken got more votes than Gywnn (not to say one is better than the other), and I'm really not sure why neither were unanimous. I know its never happened before, and one voter said he's not voting for any steroid era players (so it won't happen as long as he's voting).

Some people probably didn't vote because they didn't think the player was worthy of a "first ballot induction." I think some of that is so strange. If you know a guy is going to get in and deserves to be in, why not just vote him in? Outside of the "cast no vote" guy, I'd be interested in why Ripken and Gwynn didn't get votes.

The real story is McGwire. He is the forerunner for steroid era home run hitters getting into the hall of fame. And it was an utter utter embarrassing failure.

The Kurt-chin dude on ESPN said McGwire at this pace won't be in the hall 10 years from now. That is incredible to even consider.

    Sure you can:

    Wade Boggs .328
    Albert Pujols .332
    Todd Helton .333
    Vlad Guerrero .325

    Silly.

i can buy boggs as better than gwynn.

pujols is too young to compare yet, although if he keeps it up he will clearly be better than gwynn, and possibly the best hitter that ever lived.

helton hits in colorado so his stats are off.

after vlads career is over, i think he may be a better hitter than gwynn too.

definite arguments can be made for those guys, they are awesome.

however, i think of that list, gwynn and helton are least likely to be aided by steroids.
