I guess one could debate the psychological benefits of wearing, we're number two. But my thoughts immediately turned to the guys who graduated or left early. Not something most competitors want to see on their resume for the rest of their life. SEC champs, not so bad. But hey, what do I know, I'm just from Alabama.
LOL!! I thought Tusk started this thread and I fully expected to click the link and see a Bama ring there.
I and many of the Shreveport Times website people have started basically a boycott of Glenny boy. Not only is the guy anti-LSU but he really got put in his place when he claimed Jarrett Lee was academically ineligible for the NC game. Miles even called him out on it in the next media session at LSU but Glenny boy was nowhere to be found. Oh Glenny is bubbly at the first of each season saying how great LSU is, but then he hammers on the coaches all season (last year it was Lee should start over Jefferson) and then if LSU falls short of his glowing predictions, he then can lower the boom. Read the comments sometimes on that site...they are funny! My own opinion is that is a media hype. I'll take a wild guess and say the players are motivated to win the NC by wanting to win the NC. It will be a nightmare before the November game against Alabama. Little be about the matchups and who is playing better. More will be about "LSU revenge" and if both are undefeated "Alabama repeat" and "little Nicky vs Les Miles", blah, blah, blah. That is why my brother basically turns on games about 30 seconds before kickoff. Unfortunately, there are way too many websites, blogs, sports channels, etc. They have to fill it up with something don't they?
You're preaching to the choir when it comes to Dildeaux. Everyone here knows his shitty antics very well. He's guilty of douchebaggery every single day of his pathetic existence. He uses his post as sportswriter to create controversy, verbally beat down the coaching staff, Miles in particular, belittling the team in the process, all just to build up his ratings and make money. That fuckstick would not be welcome in the middle of an LSU tailgate, he just might get his ass whipped.
Of course, I didn't bring up 2007...the year that Miles/LSU won the NC. If you remember week after week, "LSU lucks out again"...."how many 4th down plays are going to work"...blah, blah, blah. Then LSU won it all. Guilbeau jumped on the bandwagon so hard that it broke both axles. Then starting in 2008, he decided to go the other way...praise LSU to high heavens in September, if they do well, he may not like it but at least he is on the winning side. If they do worse than expected, then he can still jump on the players, jump on Les Miles, etc. That is when I quit reading him...haven't read an article in 4 years by the clown. On the Shreveport site some of us just comment to each other based upon the article's title which we do read. But you should be in a chat during the season. I have called out the guy for being anti-LSU, not knowing squat about football, and if you have a vote in the polls (like I believe he rotates back in this year in the AP poll), that explains why the polls are crap. Needless to say, Glenny doesn't care for it too much, so I have to change userids to get new comments in. That deal with Jarrett Lee being academically ineligible was one of the most depicable things I have seen in my life from a media guy! He LIED, Miles called him out on it, and Glenny boy didn't have the guts to show up. Miles called out his name a couple of times at the next press conference, "Where's Guilbeau"? "Where's Guilbeau?" Nowhere to be found!
That would be showboating. I try to stay humble around my conference brethren. I know, if the shoe was on the other foot, you would be feeling my pain, even if you decided to go ahead and keep the trophy.
