Other than a HC change which has been played out in numerous threads, what needs to happen to fix the problem for next year? We return Top-10 talent and get Alabama, Ole Miss, and Tennessee at home. We also have notable OOC games with UNC and West Virginia. This team reminds me of the 2007 & 2008 Saints' teams. You look at them and just can't figure out why they don't click. N.O. brings in a new DC and changes a few players and now they're rolling. What can happen ta LSU to make a run next season? Is there an OC available to teach JJ how to read a blitz and run the option? Will a change at RB help our 4th quarter problems and help the passing game? Will a new OC evaluate the talent and find a way to use Shepard? Our secondary should be pretty damn good next season so what can we do to stop the running game and pressure the QB? I can understand how fans don't want this program to have a big drop off and considering the play calling, bad decisions, lack of development, and repeated mistakes...the concern is warranted. At the same time this team held Florida to one TD (which should've been offensive interference), was in a tight game with Alabama (although clearly playing against the refs), and had a chance to beat Ole Miss even after handing them the game. With the talent on board I can't imagine why this would require a major overhual to get on track. Can these two things happen? 1) Can/will LSU find a talented OC who can get full use of our talent and speed?; and 2) Will Miles allow the OC to make the calls?
We need to bring in a fullback. A real one. Not an offensive lineman or a running back that plays fullback.
We have one... he's a freshman, 6-5 and only 30 lighter than Ciron Black I think... can you say perfect blocking back for anything inside 3 yards...
Yes these things can happen. I think Les is smart enough to make the necessary changes. But I have a great idea, how about he hires a guy thats strictly for clock management and he runs that part of practice....lol
Ridley is listed as a FB. But back to Parsons... I could careless how much he's too big or too slow... you don't have to be fast to get in there and throw your weight around. He's 6-5 and almost 300 pounds... JLee could run a 5 yrad TD with him lead blocking for him... since our Oline hasn't been dominate all season, maybe an added 300 pounder to step and help push would open up our running game some. If he's an Olineman than fine, but he's listed as a FB... so either we have staffers who have no clue how to judge talent or have no clue how the hell they should use our kids on this team to succeed. But imo, since he's been listed as a FB then we should his big ol butt for just that... maybe we could actually walk away with TDs and not have to settle for FGs or 3 and Outs. Just saying.
I don't care if Ridley is listed as a FB. When did he play FB? Parsons is a FB because we don't have a legit FB. He's all we've got. If you think a 6'5" 290lb guy can be an every down FB then you need to watch more football. If the key to running the ball was a FB that was actually an offensive lineman then everyone would have a backup offensive lineman at FB. That kind of guy is fine on the goal line, given that he has enough quickness to hit the hole before the RB runs him over, but an every down FB has to have the quickness to get to the second level and take out LBs and S, that is what makes a 3 yard run a 15 yard run.
