All the best to you young man. Your hard work and dedication will serve tyou well. Thanks for giving some of it to us!
Until I see a link for this on a creditable site (pretty much any site other than ESPN) I'm calling bull****. If true, I think it is a bad decision, but I wish him luck.
The only thing I can find says it is probable: 2theadvocate.com | Tiger Tracks | Some things to keep an eye on — Baton Rouge, LA It also says Crowton likely to Maryland.
He talked about entering the draft right after the regular season ended, but after that every interview sounded like he was staying. Which is why I find it hard to believe. Crowton leaving I can easily believe, Les has let his staff “find” another job in the past instead of firing them.
I've no trouble believing this from things that he's told people that I know recently. He has evidently grown very wary of the demands of being a student-athlete, and wants to focus strictly on football. He says that he has worked his tail off on the football field for 17 years and doesn't want to risk throwing it all away. I guess the Charles Scott situation really got to him. That said, I do not think that this is a great decision on his part. His stock would have increased dramatically with one more year of exposure, particularly with LSU primed to make a championship run. This is not lost on him, however, so he's doing what he thinks is right in spite of it. Sucks, though. Probably my favorite Tiger. Young man represents himself and his university exceptionally.
This...I got say, Ridely seems to be an exceptional young man. If I had a daughter I would be throwing her at him in a wedding dress.
The thing is, how much more could his stock rise?? I don't think it would be that significant. Coaches and General Managers are starting to look at the whole running back situation in the NFL. It makes no sense to draft any running back in the early rounds unless Adrian Peterson is on the board when it's your turn. It has been proven time and time again that you can get quality running backs, late in the draft, or just by signing one after the draft. Especially now that most teams want to carry 4 or even 5 running backs. The days of the primary running back are almost dead. There are still a few out there, but it makes sense in the NFL to have at least 2 go to backs.
Bad decision? 1) Spencer Ware just ran for 102 yards in the Cotton Bowl on 10 carries 2) there are many talented guys breathing down Ridley's neck for playing time 3) Mett could come in and make us rely less on the run 4) Ridley is only the 13th LSU player to rush for more than 1,000 yards in a season (1,042 yards) 5) Ridley is tied for fifth in LSU history with 14 rushing touchdowns in a single season 6) Ridley was voted 1st team All-SEC this year. What can Ridley come back and do better? He has already proved he can rush for over 1K yards & I don't see him being an All-American next year.
