I think you misread his post. He was saying he was NOT the best athlete of all time, but was deserving of being called very good.
I think it is fair to say expect Ricky Jefferson and Diarse to leave Louisiana... Nobody should get their hopes up for either guy. If they come here, it would be a nice surprise. Otherwise, expectations should be low right now or you're setting yourself up for disappointment. Miles has a lot of ground to make on Diarse and Jefferson...well, I think everybody knows the story on that.
i was saying that if "freak athlete" means "best player in the last 10 years," then yeah, I agree with you that RJ is not a "freak athlete" another position JJ could have been great at would be TE as a blocker -- JJ is insanely strong for his 6'4, 223 size. Moffitt posted the LSU squat numbers and JJ squats more than every TE on our roster (and JJ squats more than every LB on our roster except for Minter and Baker, and squats just as much or more than every lineman on our roster except for 3 OL and 3 DL) as a receiver -- JJ has the same height/weight as Brent Jones, who is the prototypical receiving TE (he was the the multiple All-Pro TE end for Steve Young and Joe Montana). it will be interesting to see what JJ's forty time is at his pro day. i'd think he'd be around 4.5 or 4.6, which is just as fast as a lot of these TEs were at their combine/pro day: Vernon Davis -- 4.38 Jimmy Graham -- 4.53 Kellen Winslow -- 4.55 Aaron Hernandez -- 4.64 Jason Witten -- 4.65 Dallas Clark -- 4.65 Jermichael Finley -- 4.66 Rob Gronkowski -- 4.68 Marcedes Lewis -- 4.80 Brandon Pettigrew -- 4.80 as for Rickey Jefferson, there is no chance of him playing QB. for one, he's never played QB. and secondly, he's only 5-11. if you want to worry about someone playing QB worry about Tre'Davious White who played QB last season and I assume will play QB his senior season i wouldn't get my hopes up too high for anybody, there are a lot of nice schools out there to fall in love with. as for Rickey Jefferson, here is some good news for LSU: Tiger Sports World - Jeryl Brazil speaks on Ricky Jefferson here is a pic of Rickey (on left) and Jeryl Brazil (on right) at LSU: as for Rickey, keep in mind that although he likes LSU, he likes a lot of schools: he's talked about wanting to get an offer from Bama as well. like a lot of kids that would make excellent DBs, playing DB for Saban is a huge draw: as for their dad, he said: Rickey said "Jordan is the most special person I admire," and Jordan told him: Rickey Jefferson living up to family name - ESPN
No offense but most of that is before the NC game. This is before JJ started getting death threats and the like...
according to the article, Jeryl Brazil and Rickey Jefferson were hanging out together at LSU two days ago (Saturday), they bonded well and Brazil says Rickey "thinks highly of LSU" and "I believe Rickey is still very high on LSU"
Sorry about the confusion, Tiger_fan. To me a "freak athlete" is someone with off the chart measurables, especially relative to size, as opposed to someone who is highly skilled or productive at one or even multiple sports. It's the kind of athleticism that is extremely rare. That's how I see it anyway.
