Actually we were. It was created during The Great Depression. You should read about it.

We have millions of people who worked all of their lives, paid taxes and have nothing but social security to keep them from living in boxes in their old age.

If the GOP runs Perry with the platform of dropping Social Security, no wonder Karl Rove is about to blow an O-ring. It would cost republicans all of the moderate vote and half of the conservative vote. If its Obama/Perry in 2012, get ready for another four.

assuming your logic is solid, which it isnt, you should note that today pooe people in america are fat. modern america is nothnig like the america of the great depression.

yes, i know, we should phase it out gradually, paying folks who paid into it, but keeping new workers out of it entirely. we will have to go into debt to do this, but yunno, thta is the price of stupidity.

Right. Just because we did something stupid in the past doesn't mean we should do something stupid forever. I liken it to when I have a client come in wanting to know if he should keep his whole life policy. The answer is always no. You made a dumb decision, and you can't get back what you have lost, but you can stop losing.

So what? No more of them are fat than in any other fiscal sector.

This is an idiotic statement. If you think poor people have gone away, you should come down out of your trust funded ivory tower and look around.

Good, you should run on that platform. You will lose.

that is actually incorrect. obesity is a scourge among the poor. they are mosdef fatter than the rest of us. poor people are poor and fat people are fat because they make bad decisions for immediate gratification and are generally lazy. so it would stand to reason that poor people are fatter. they are generally worse at all skills. they just are not that poor in terms of actual purchasing power. they have all they need. more than they need perhaps.

    dude, i live in queens.

again, you should stop judging things based on how many people agree or what is popular.

Ahhh, so there are poor people.

Then you have seen plenty of poor people. Why do you pretend to be stupid?

Dude, the topic is Rick Perry's campaign. It's all about what people think!

yes, relatively. relative to the really rich. but not poor in the sense that they cant afford food or rent. even chinamen who speak zero words of english move here and make enough to eat and live in chinatown, which is a nice neighborhood.

again, i mean relatively poor. the aforementioned chinamen are relatively poor in america. but they were actually poor in rural china. there is a HUGE diference.

    ok i guess so.
