Was rewatching bits of the Ole Miss game. Richard Murphy seems very, very fast. Anyone know how he fares in breakaway speed on the team?

He was pulled down relatively easily, so I don't think he'll be bruising it up the middle, but he seems like a nice mix of Scott/Williams/Holliday.

I have no clue how they'll decide who to start next year. RB by committee again? I'm not sure how I feel about that.

Considering that he might get 1-2 carries a game, it's hard to tell.

Well, since we're ranked 13th in the country rushing the football (at 220.91 yards per game) I KNOW how I feel about our "RB by committee": I'll TAKE IT with those results!

Miles clearly trusts Hester the most with the football--and with good reason. Hester hasn't fumbled since his Freshman season! ...I remember them making that comment during the last game.

Next season, look for KW and Scott to split the majority of the carries with Murphy getting more touches than this season (guess an average of 3-4 rushes per game next year).

I guess I was asking about 40 yard times and what not...:rolleye33:

Guys like CParso usually have that kinda inside skinny.

Oh, sorry. I thought you meant like times on the field in pads when he is actually playing against someone, dodging and breaking away from tacklers. :thumb:

    Okay, okay... I'll stop.

True, true. Can't argue with those results. Eventually, though, RB by Committee would seem to hurt when recruiting talented HS RBs. I believe we had had a history of featuring talented, full time RBs (Faulk, Addai, Vincent, etc) when we recruited these fellas. If they can't even HOPE to compete for an 1100 yard season or better, they (edit: future talent) may choose to go elsewhere. That's all. I know WHY we're doing it this year, but strategically, it seems like it would have to end soon.

Hester has indeed NOT fumbled. We've only lost 2 fumbles ALL YEAR (Gawd I hesitate writing that - knocking on wood). Not dissing Jacob, giving respect to the entire team!

All I'm saying is that Murphy has shown some flashes of impressive speed. I'm wondering if he might not overtake Scott and Williams this off-season. He's obviously earned the coaches respect. Otherwise, he wouldn't be getting the touches and playing time he's had.

    Not flaming. Just interested.

He might be faster now but his time when he was recruited his 40 speed was 4.5 sec.

I like Murphy's versatility more than anything. The man knows what to do when he has the football in the open field. I.E. - swing passes and the like. Has there been an unsuccessful swing pass thrown to him this season?
