just saw the replay on cst, from our point in the stadium it just looked like he landed on his back too hard... but man, when the guy was on the ground he reached his hand up to keiland. must've been in a lot of pain mentally and physically. i hope this works out for him.
What did Broussard tear when he blew his knee out in spring practice in '05? He came back and was a shell of the player he was in '04.
That was the case for Charles Alexander in '07 if I'm not mistaken. Good luck to Murphy. A guy who came in with a lot of accolades and has been caught in the numbers game. I admire his patience, and he's earned the chance to be the man at tailback....hopefully he'll be ready next year.
Played hard every down and never complained. I always thought he was destined to bust a big play in a key moment for us. Get well #26.
We could have really used him in certain situations this season. It's a shame. Hopefully he'll come back next year and be ready to step in as the man. He'll still go down as the greatest spring game RB in LSU history either way. RB depth is a bit of a concern now but luckily we have two horses at the top of the depth chart. Interesting to see what we do with Michael Ford now.
He came back a shell of himself because he was out of shape and way overweight. One thing a rebuilt knee doesn't need starting out is extra weight and Alley had a bunch of it.
That's true. Broussard did not manage his rehab well. He gained a lot of weight, and he was also set back because of an infection that set in after surgery (I'm not sure if that's because he didn't take his full round of antibiotics that everyone has to take after surgery.) Those post-surgery infections are devastating, and that may have been his biggest problem in rehab. Methods and techniques in knee surgery have changed a lot in the past decade, so some of you who are thinking he's over for good because of your own bad experiences with knee surgery (I've had three, myself), might be surprised at how much better some of these athletes come back from surgery, as opposed to how you did years ago. Best of luck to Richard Murphy.
