It should be obvious after the spring that Mr. Richard Murphy had, that he should be on the field more. Besides he is the most potent runner that they have. Even the coaches know that he is a big play threat evrytime he touches the ball. He is the 5th leading rusher in louisiana high school football history so give him a chance.....5 carries a game just wont cut it....Think about it Scott and Murphy could be the Better clone of McFadden and Felix Jones but with a better recieving core.....Just a thought........ I think we'll see a lot of of Murphy this weekend. I wouldn't mind seeing Scott and Murphy in a wishbone back there. I don't think we've seen anything but the most vanilla offense the first two games. Scott has always been the RB with Hatch, and Murphy has always been the RB with Lee. It will be changed up some this weekend. Murphy always looks like he's ready to explode and break one.
Well, certainly, RM is a very good option, but clearly CScott deserves to start and be the main go-to back. CScott has multiple long runs already, and on his others he has gotten tough, productive yards for key first downs. While he has received a few more carries, he has done the most with his chances. I don't think the blocking has been meaningfully different when the other backs are in there either. CScott is THE MAN, but certainly the others deserve some touches, and will get them in relief of Scott. Spring potential does not equal live games - not saying that RM wouldn't do more if he had more opportunities, but the bottom line is you stick with the hot hand.
I like Murphy too, but if it ain't broke, don't fix it... Scott has started the season with 160 yds in the first game, and 102 in the second... The RB situation may not look like you want it to but so far, it's working.
I couldnt agree more. RM will get his carries against alot of SEC teams and alot of passes thrown his way, but right now Scott has the vision and toughness we need out of our running game. But like someone said that isnt the problem with our offense.
Of course you ride the horse that has gotten you there. Charles is great and so is Murphy. Im jus sayin we have quarterback problems so the running backs should be getting at least a combined 30 touches a game. We have a stable full of stud RB's. Scott has proven himself but we have not played SEC calibur teams yet and I feel like we will need to use Murphy a little more.... According to most of the articles i have read he and Scott have been having the best practices and springs anyway. As my old coach says you practice like you play!:geauxtige:crystal::tigereye:
they'll both get plenty against auburn. the first two games were like mini-tryouts for the QB's so that had to run some pass plays
I agree with you, now that we are getting into the true SEC season, we should run, run, run (in fact, personally, I felt we did not run enough last year) and divy this up a bit with CS being the featured back, and RM getting quite a few more carries. The first two games, however, were really about getting the QBs some PT to get some experience and to see what they can do.
