We're talking NMSU, not AU (away game). Jennings didn't draw boos immediately, it was after his third or fourth failed series.
So a girl we just hired said she was at the Wisconsin game in Houston and a huge fight broke out in the stands, and I was shocked because everyone from Wisconsin I have ever met (that list is extensive because my company's base operation is in Wisconsin) has been some of the nicest people ever. She said no, they were all LSU fans fighting each other because of booing and yelling obscenities at Jennings and Miles and then they were all hugging each other after the comeback. Lots of people have said it, best thing about LSU: fans Worst thing about LSU: fans.
That's pretty true everywhere in the SEC except maybe at Vanderbilt. Its part of the passion for their football team that SEC fans have that doesn't exist in the Big (pick your number, 10, 11, 12, 14) In the Pac 12 they care more about whether the surf is up than they do about their teams. Only in Texas, Oklahoma and certain areas of the ACC like Florida State and Clemson do they come close to matching the rabid passion of SEC fans. Most of the ACC is more concerned with basketball
I think if you were there you would have a different perspective, because you would have heard the conversation in the stands both before and after the boos and between fans after the game. There was very little negative talk about Jennings around me, but EVERYONE was very vocal in criticizing Miles for leaving him in when he was struggling so badly. It's easy to hear boos on tv and assume the wrong thing. But hearing people around you boo and then very passionately explain why gives a better understanding. Not arguing whether it's wrong or right, but I have absolutely no doubt who was being boo'd.
I'm just going on experience, I've personally seen the LSU crowd boo the shit out of Jarrett Lee. And maybe some are booing Miles but I've seen it happen with Lee taking the field. Now I guess you could argue you are booing Miles for putting in Lee, then we are talking symantics. I've worked in HR long enough to know that perception is reality though and just because you may mean to be booing Miles and he may deserve it, but if Jennings feels he is getting boo'd perception is reality. If that makes any sense.
Not sure if you are being sarcastic or not, but these aren't first graders we're talking about. I imagine most have an idea.
I think it's crazy to think that the fans are worse for our QBs' psyches than the coaches who totally bungle management of young players. A boo is a boo, it doesn't come with an elaborate explanation, but when Miles puts a whole season on Lee/Jefferson/Jefferson/Lee/Jefferson and they struggle the whole time, damn. I've heard fans say let Harris take his lumps, it's clear he's better than Jennings, that's the type of thinking that has gotten us to this point. That'll ruin both and we still won't have QB play worth a shit in 10 more years. It's amazing that Jennings and Harris have had their best performances against solid competition coming off the bench. Or am I the only one to notice that?
