I don't think Miles is going anywhere. Miles' history of whacky speech can explain away his use of "your", etc. Just because we were expecting or hoping Miles to make some kind of definitive statement of non-interest and t did not come yet does not mean he actually has any interest in the Michigan job. I think everyone that listens to Miles speak is wondering where to get the definitive Miles translator. I also think Michigan will pick an extremely unexpected choice for their head coach just as they did when Rich Rodriguez was originally hired. (Who among us can say they predicted Rich Rod to get hired by the Wolverines with a straight face?) People expecting a "Michigan Man" will either be originally disappointed that they don't get that or disappointed down the road if they do. Aside from the usual names getting tossed out, here are a few that might be surprisingly good fits for the Wolverines. 1. Bill Callahan. Laugh if you will, but Callahan can flat out recruit. Barry Alvarez credits Bill Callahan's recruiting while he was an assistant at Wisconsin as one of the main reasons why Wisconsin won 3 Rose Bowls in the 1990s. Bo Pellini's success at Nebraska can in part be attributed to inheriting talent recruited by Callahan (see Ndomikong Suh). 2. Kevin Sumlin. Current HC for the Houston Cougers. Five year OC at Oklahoma under Bob Stoops and finalist for Bear Bryant award in 2009. Sumlin's type of offense might make sense for the players Rich Rod has recruited for Michigan. 3. Tommy Tubberville. I personally hate the dude but he has been a very successful coach and recruiter. He is just sleazy enough to pull a Kiffin and forsake the Red Raiders after a single season. 4. George O'Leary. Padded resume aside, O'Leary can recruit and coach with the best of them. Enough time has passed since the Notre Dame fiasco that I think O'Leary will start getting looked at again by major programs.
He doesn't say 'there' will always be Michigan...he says "They will always be Michigan". There's a difference there. And he doesn't say preparing 'your' team, he says "preparing a team". Now I may be crazy, but I'm gonna guess he was talking about the same team he was talking about when he said "MY team" earlier in the presser, right before he spoke about LSU fans when he said "OUR fanbase". - Les Miles' Cotton Bowl Press Conference - LSUsports.Net
Well, if Bhelm misquoted him you can't blame those of us who didn't hear or see the presser for being a little concerned with the wording that was said he used. That said, I have had time to sit down with family and friends to discuss the future of CLM, and we have come to the determination that he isn't going anywhere. Oh, and he does replace GC after the bowl game. Hire has already been made.
Bhelm didn't misquote him, as I clearly stated. BHelm quoted an article that misquoted him. Not BHelm's fault. And I don't blame those of you who are chicken littles. That's what I'm for...to guide you back to reality. - And Tiga? He's the stirrer...:hihi: - Tigercliff? Leader of the chicken little band.opcorn:
I am hoping Les is listening to the kids at home that he loves so much. You are right about a new pro style OC that is on the way. I think GC was gone after the Tenn game. If you see Hoke start being talked up it means Les has given a back door no!
I missed that in your post. In my defense though, I wasn't a Chicken Little, I was just concerned over the wording. Now that I've had time to read several articles I can see where the confussion and conflicting quotes come into play. There really does need to be a sarcasm button.
