I agree that the "your team" business sounds suspicious, but of course, Miles always sounds suspicious.
Not at all. NFL coaches don't know how to recruit, don't realize the huge media commitments required, and don't know how to coach 18-21 year old kids. Not to mention Del Rio is an awful NFL coach. Terrible terrible terrible idea. But this is a stupid conversation because we already have a coach.
Not to mention Del Rio is an awful NFL coach. Terrible terrible terrible idea. hold on bull dog! Jack is very well respected coach and has what I want in my coach. D back ground and very good football sense. He doesn't know how to coach 18 year old kids - really, sounds like a vauge stupid statement on your part. I am glad if we go looking you will not be part of the search group. :tigereye:
For Michigan, Les Miles vs. Brady Hoke January, 5, 2011 Jan 5 10:45 AM ET Email Print Comments By Bruce Feldman Rich Rodriguez's firing was hardly a bombshell, especially since we thought we knew it for a part of yesterday as well. The next step in this process, though -- who becomes the new coach at Michigan? -- likely will be a bombshell. All coaching transitions are tricky; this one is especially tricky. It took RichRod three years to get the right personnel for his spread option offense. He won three, then won five, and this season went 7-6. Then, AD Dave Brandon pressed the reset button. Twenty of 22 starters are coming back, but a bunch of key commitments are bailing on the Wolverines and, perhaps more importantly, the next guy that comes in is likely to run a different type of system. If Jim Harbaugh did get this job, what would happen to Denard Robinson? Would he transfer? Would he be a WR or RB? He likely wouldn't be a QB, given the way Harbaugh sets up a team. Here are the big names, with my odds: Les Miles, 3-1: He truly is a Michigan Man, and he's won a national title. There's been a lot of talk about how he still secretly would like to get this job and doesn't feel appreciated at LSU. But he does have a hefty buyout. For Bruce's full take, you need to be an Insider.
Still, can't figure out why anyone would want a guy who really isn't successful in the NFL. 65-63 since 03 with 3 playoff games. 1-2 in the playoffs. 3 winning seasons.
If Les really feels so underappreciated here, what does he think is going to happen when he's greeted like a conquering hero at Michigan and gets canned if he can't get things turned around in 3 years?
you going to list NFL records make sure you look up Nicks record at the fins!! you want a solid football man that has the right stuff Jack is one of my solid guys - many college guys would make the list but you have to catch a good guy at the right time.
There are plenty of fans that want him to go. I for one would like him to stay. Look at the great universities that have imploded after their coach left. When rich rod was at wvu they were one game away from the bcsncg before they lost and now look at them. Look at tenn and notre dame. These fools don't see their nose spite their face. We have a winner and are one decent qb away from another nc and they have to have something to bitch about. I listened to the les miles show earlier this year when a caller said he had the pictures jj had of him. That pissed him off along with the booing of his players in their stadium. I hope lsu doesn't crash like other great football programs did because we can't show a little respect to a fine man and excellent coach who gives us 110% and delivers a better than average season and national rankings year in and year out. God could send St. Peter down to coach the tigers and there still will be a herd of pricks calling for him to be fired. It will be a damn shame to lose clm.
I got to go but I would say my number #1 choice is Les staying in Baton Rouge. I just don't like the tone he set today and how things are looking up in Yankee land. If Les leaves I am sure we will get a good guy.
