So the good folks of Oregon, as well as some of the talking heads on ESPN, are now saying that Oregon deserves a rematch with LSU in the BCSNCG. Their case goes like this: 1) The game against LSU was much closer than the score indicated, and even still, Oregon put 27 points on LSU and only lost by 13. 2) Oregon played LSU better than Alabama and therefore deserves to jump Alabama in the BCS polls. 3) Oregon is much faster now than they were at the start of the season - and many are saying that they would now beat LSU in a rematch. 4) Alabama lost to LSU at home - the end. We don't want to discuss the nature of this game. They just shouldn't get another chance because we said so. After all, you lost at home. 5) The game that we played against LSU might as well have been last year. This team is so much different and better now. This is all in contradistinction to the following facts: 1) The original game was close - in the first half. LSU absolutely dominated and destroyed Oregon in the second half of that game. LSU gave up some meaningless points in the end after the game was long over. Maybe in hindsight that should have been prevented to shut these whining fools up. 2) Oregon did not play us better than Alabama did. We dominated Oregon and destroyed them in the second half. The Alabama game was a clash of the Titans with both teams exchanging blows for more than 60 minutes. The game was very nearly a draw. There is no comparison between the Oregon and Alabama games. 3) Oregon is running at the same speed now it was early in the year. Typically, Oregon slows down a step late in the season. LSU's defense has only gotten better as the season went on. Now it could be that Oregon's offense was slowed down because of our defense, and it could be that our defense wasn't as good because of Oregon's offense in that first game - best case scenario from Oregon's point-of-view. Put it all together, though, and we still beat them in convincing fashion. 4) Everyone seems to have forgotten about Okie St. If they have anything to say about it, they will be in the BCS title game. 5) At the end of the day, if people don't want to see a rematch involving LSU and Alabama, then why the hell would they want to see a rematch involving LSU and Oregon? That makes even less sense. 6) The west coast whiners are coming. People are starting to feel "entitled" and I think it sucks. You had your chance and you got your ass kicked. I commend you for scheduling the game. That took some 'nads. Good for you. Now go play in the Rose Bowl. 7) Obviously, this thing isn't over. LSU still must win out, and we obviously have a much tougher road ahead than the Ducks, just as we have had a much tougher road to this point. At this point, with all the whining that is out there and sure to come, I'm settling on wanting to see an LSU-Okie St. matchup. Let's see if it happens. :crystal::crystal::crystal:
I hear you. I just get caught up on seeing these whiney mother ****ers start their whine all over again. I knew this was going to happen if they won against Stanford, and here it is. Oregon fan is obnoxious, complains a lot, and always feels entitled to something. They are a good team. I try to give them props where deserved, but I really don't like them.
Duck-hunting season's opening day comes with great optimism Shooting time was only five minutes behind us, but we already knew opening day of duck season was a big success in the Delacroix marsh. We could tell by the sound. It arrived like a thunderstorm passing over a tin roof. First a few scattered heavy drops, tap-tap-tapping away with a promise of something big to follow. It did. The sound quickly built to an incessant, thunderous drumming that didn't begin to lose its fury for 30 minutes. "It's louder than New Year's Eve," Jared Serigne said, smiling in wonder at the roar rising from every point on the compass. "There must be ducks everywhere. "I haven't heard it this loud on opening day around here for awhile. Maybe we'll have a great year." Duck-hunting season's opening day comes with great optimism | NOLA.com Sorry Red, but I thought this was a duck hunting topic...my bad...after what we did to Oregon on "opening day", we'd massacre them like this again. (Though, I do kinda miss JohnLSU getting drunk after games and posting soft porn pics :hihi
They have SOME points. Oregon looks much different now. I hate these HUGE games on opening weekend. Give them a couple of games to develop a few plays/players. Oregon would be a better matchup than y'all seem to think and I am of the opinion that Alabama is just a little bit better everywhere except the kicking game. But you know what? We're a young team who will have a better QB from a pure passing perspective (next season) so I'm quite content at the moment. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
The usual our team has improved while yours hasn't argument. Very common as bowl talks start. Oregon is feeling pretty confident blowing through that pitiful schedule with their signature win coming from a vastly over ranked Stanford team. I'd welcome a rematch but expect the end result to be similar. Since the dome will be almost a home game I'd predict 42-21, us.
I love the sentiment that Oregone is now somehow "faster" than they were in week one, as if speed isn't something that comes naturally. Good grief. It's not that they're faster, they're just not playing SEC teams right now, so the LOOK faster. Stanford is very slow, particularly on D. If they are allowed to get skull-raped by us in the NCG, will they just claim that they weren't that fast in the game and should have won?
We had little confidence in our passing game when we played Oregon and played it really conservative. We are a much more well rounded offense that can easily beat you on the deep ball. And we have Shepard now along with JJ. LSU 48, Oregon 27
