I have no argument, you are free to disagree with my opinion. It is my opinion that TT has the best tools on the team for that position.

I would say him not being on the field much is more a fact than an argument.
Are you NOW saying TT did get on the field a lot. I guess we can start debating what "a lot" is or isn't. Either way, not going to change my opinion of the situation. You seem to hint that you didn't feel that TT got on the field "a lot" because of either talent or effort, now you seem to indicate that you think he is getting on the "a lot".

There you go...just to clarify. There are plenty that believe TT is the #2 guy. I have seen NOBODY claim he is better than Lafell...which you seem to do after you provide your reason why he will start..."based on the limited playing time he has gotten".:nope: Also, you state that last season wasn't the best season to be an LSU wideout. I understand where you're coming from. However, it didn't stop Jojo from putting up large numbers...better numbers than Green or Jones. I think you wildly underestimate Lafell.

Based on the stats that Attack Tiger put up, I would like you to now explain how "TT is the deep threat".
    -
I'm not trying to rail on you, but come on...you've got to admit that's a silly reason to think he'll be the man this year...based on the fact he hasn't played much?

In all fairness... Charles Scott improved TREMENDOUSLY in the off season between 2007 and 2008. He also worked really hard to do so. See for yourself... I'll dig up more on it, but I remember seeing a few articles regarding how hard he worked in the spring/summer of '08.. People on the team have said the same thing. The man put in the work and it paid off for him, so yes.. he did get better all of a sudden.

Just wanted to throw that in there, I know this thread is about TT so I'll let yall get back at it.

Man, are we speaking the same language? No I'm not saying he saw the field a lot. Never have even implied that. I'm saying that you're reason for him being the best is because he hasn't seen the field much...and that doesn't make sense at all.
    -
IMO, he hasn't seen the field much because he didn't know how to run the right routes. I have said over and over that physically, I don't have ANY problem with TT. Like a previous poster said, whoever knows the playbook best should be #1 and #2. If he learns his routes and how to block like an LSU receiver, he may well be ONE of the better WRs in the SEC.

Now you seem to hint that now he doesn't get on the field much once again. Charles Scott didn't get on the field much either so what? He's now the best back on the team. Do you think he was the 3rd, 4th, or 5th best back in 2006? I don't. So what?

I just claimed I liked Toliver more than LaFell, this is not an election, I don't need votes.

Who cares about stats, Byrd probably has the worse stats of any WR selected in the draft. There are more to numbers than the numbers themselves which is the context of the numbers. You might be correct that I underestimate LaFell, my opinion still stands, you act like I kicked your dog.

Now I am your servant? Do you have me confused for someone else?

According to the stats, Jacob Hester is a slow white guy that can't jump, so what? You agree TT doesn't get on the field than you ask me to show numbers to compare an apple to an orange. Are you LaFell because you certainly are taking this personal.

Who said he was man of the year, another strawman argument attempt. You go from one extreme to the other.

I am sorry that you don't like it that I think Toliver has more ability and skill than LaFell. It's not something to get upset about.

    Huh?

Do you have video of his route running, are you part of the coaching staff? How do you know where he should be running? Do you have their playbook? Did you know the plays? Curious minds would love to know.

I have a TV...and it's pretty easy to see when a receiver breaks in, and the QB throws out, and the coaches are in the receiver's ear on the sideline afterwords...they ain't telling him "Don't worry...we'll work with the QB on the routes".

    When?

Sorry I can't say I have seen that once with Toliver, if it has happened, I don't recall seeing it. It certainly would be something I would take note of if I saw it all the time. I mean if you turn on your Tivo and go back to 2006 and 2007 you certainly can see all the dropped passes by LaFell. Between LaFell and Bowe you could probably fill a whole hard drive of drops. I am not trying to be hard on the guy, he has done a great job at LSU and I hope he has a great year. I still think TT has potential to be an all-time great, but in the end he has to do it.

You certainly are taking this personal.

The problem is you don't like my opinion, it isn't going to change before the start of the year. I have no problem with your opinion on the subject although I don't agree with it. You seem to have some type of personal stake in the matter. Either way it won't be solved here.

No problem. I have no issue with anyone thinking Toliver is the man. I just found it odd that when I asked what you base that on, your reply was "his limited playing time". By that logic, RR should be #1...sense he hasn't played at all. But obviously, it makes sense to you...so let's move on.

Screw it. I'll say it. TT has been a space cadet. Now I am a big supporter and I hope he does well. That can lead to great things for LSU!. But it's been said many times that he had his problems with the playbook.

Coaches won't throw a guy under the bus who hasn't had a chance to build his confidence and is still trying to figure things out. Calling TT out would be the formula for killing the kids chances at greatness. But I've seen on this very forum many times in my short year here, that TT just didn't understand the playbook. For all his measurables, which haven't changed that much, it was the mental that held him back. What coach in America wants to make a 6'5 210 lb receiver with speed and hands "wait his turn." NONE. He waited because he wasn't ready. Now is his chance to prove he gets it. And he has a freshmen that is picking things up MUCH MUCH quicker than he did breathing down his neck. To RR's benefit, he did play in a fairly similar offense for four varsity years. They played anywhere from an all-out spread to an i-formation, usually settling on a pseudo-spread, much like Crowton enjoys. I'm sure it's easier to learn the playbook when you're more familiar with the concepts.

Since TT has been there, the two starters at WR have not been in doubt and was probably never debated. This year, the debate is everywhere...I'll stop short of saying it's raging because it's not that serious. But anyway, we knew that Doucet, Lafell, and Byrd were options 1,2, and 3 in 2007. Doucet's injury issues helped TT see the field more that year. Then in 2008 we knew that Lafell and Byrd were 1 and 2 at a time when TT was not even guaranteed to be 3rd option at the position. He wasn't always first option to back up Lafell or Byrd. It was his mental because his physical is what had him rated so high, despite not posting prolific numbers in his high school career (not his fault). I hope the kid gets it, but again, the fact that a true junior is arguably even with a true freshman tells me plenty. RR is better and it will show next year after JoJo has gone first round, 2nd WR taken behind Dez Bryant. RR will be #1 and TT will still be #2. Damn good problem to have!

From all indications, he gets it now, and that is great because two years is just enough time to build your legend that most top prospects spend damn near their entire college career building. And I hate that wait your turn crap. Play the best guys, period. I don't care what anyone at any position has done. If a guy comes along who's better (in games, not practice), then you have to get him on the field or risk losing your job. If that means fewer snaps for the experienced guy, then so be it. "That's life" as has been said in this thread about guys waiting their turn. If RR, or Shep, or Brockers, or Montgomery, or Downs, etc. are better at their positions than the incumbents, then guess what???
