Federalism was dead from the start. Washington, Adams, Hamilton... these guys did not want states to have any power within the U.S. system of government. The 10th amendment was more or less simply propaganda to allow the Southern states to agree to signing the Constitition. Limitations on the Federal government only last until it is convenient for the Feds to circumvent them or ignore them alltogether. Federal tariffs and nullification, the 16th amendment, Lincoln's illegal war, the New Deal, Civil Rights Act of 1964 (good idea, but it imposed regulations on some states and not others), the Great Society, Reagan's military expansion, Carter and Cinton's "Fair Housing", No Child Left Behind, ObamaCare... the list goes on and on. States' rights was a sham from the beginning and states are now merely executors of the will of the Washington tyrannacy.

I think a more relevant fight in the 21st century is going to be the sovereignty of the US not of individual states.

Not saying, for you inattentive readers, this is a good fight, but a necessary one.

The real currency of the 21st century is information and that knows neither state nor national boundaries. Yeah, global economy, rise of China, etc, etc, etc.
