LT is correct – just beat Bama and let’s see what happens. The press and fans are starting to remind me of 1993 when a Curley Hallman coached LSU went to Tuscaloosa and beat Gene Stallings' Tide. The Saturday headline in the Mobile Press Register (I think) was something like “Bama might loose, pigs might fly”. Nobody gave the Tigers a chance – but we did win. The headline in the newspaper the next day was something along the lines of “Pigs fly over Alabama”. It was a really nice win. Like this one will be. Nobody gives us a chance against the mighty Bama. I hope our guys play like there is no tomorrow. ldskule:
I was at that game!!! Cold Cold they would run the wild Hog with #2 All they could talk about on the radio before the game was beating Auburn! It was so much fun to be a Tiger that day!!! :milesmic:
And I have to feel that we have a MUCH better shot at winning on Saturday than we did back in '93. I still remember Curley's interview after the game, "We did this for the LSU fans all over the world!"
Come to think of it, I remember that game, very discouraging.Odd why we tend to hang on to defeats more so than victories. Coach Stallings did pretty good against LSU overall. In 7 seasons he was 6 up and one down.I hope coach Saban has got his out of the way.
Coach Stallings was around during the era of the 6 straight losing seasons for LSU. Saban isn't as lucky.
Coach Stallings averaged 10 wins a season. Most of those Bama teams were hard nuts to crack. But coaching changes are a killer. Bama fans can write a thick book on the subject. We might get back to the Bryant and Charlie Mac years at least when it comes to competition and certainly talent wise.
