This is being branded as a referendum on Obama and the democratic party as a whole. Was it that or simply a rebuke of the Weiner. Upset Win: Republican Takes Weiner quote from this article: But voter frustration over the sour economy and President Barack Obama's policies made the improbable a reality, as a Republican political novice, Bob Turner, scored an upset victory in a special election Tuesday over David Weprin, a Democratic assemblyman from a prominent local political family. The surprising results in the Brooklyn and Queens-area district portend a perilous national environment for Obama as he prepares to seek re-election next year.
Last time it happened (scott brown), the democrats took an ass whuppin soon there after. However, the presidential election is over a year away. If it means anything now, it may not by then.
I have a beard, and I like it. Please don't make these generalizations when referring to beards, or I will label you a beardist.
Isn't it obvious. Weiner lost all credibility. Republicans have lost seats to Democrats since the last election, too. Were they referendums, as well?
Im just stating how this is being billed in the media. I don't think it is a referendum on anyone but Weiner. This is what the republican leadership is saying about the election of the first republican from this district in a century. "Tonight New Yorkers have delivered a strong warning to the Democrats who control the levers of power in our federal government," House Speaker John Boehner said in a statement. "It's time to scrap the failed `stimulus' agenda." Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus added: "Tonight's election proves yet again that President Obama is failing our country. Not only are the President's policies not working, but his non-stop campaigning is no longer winning over voters." With this election and the Scott brown election recently, is there a trend of either low voter turnout for the democrats or a shift in the voters opinions on voting almost entirely democrat?
From the article: Do you really think that many people would collectively throw out their ingrained political philosophies just because one guy sext'd his junk? Turner didn't run an "I'm not Weiner" campaign. He ran on his philosophy, which is decidedly Conservative. From deeper in the article: This district is as representative of Democratic Party beliefs as any in the nation, and Obama's losing them.
Red Republicans have lost 1 seat you moron while the democracts have lost to the tune of 6. Keep trying though we know how desperate you liberals are getting.
Every disgraced politician gets thrown out except Vitter, and no one seriously ran against him. Get real.
