I would provide a link but I'm on my phone.

Not a big surprise but I didn't see a thread about it anywhere.

    Thoughts?

Good hire and someone who will beef up the recruiting efforts. Here in LA and also in Florida. All of his previous coaching stents had him in those territories to some extent.

I like the hire, hes been around in his short coaching life. To start out, I had an open pass to practice during Corey's last couple years at LSU, a good player and good team player, great worker. After 6 or so years in the NFL he came back to La. He coached Jared Mitchell New Iberia, La. (Westgate). Corey was the DC at Westgate. Mitchell played three seasons in football at LSU before going just into baseball (Jared was a 2009 First round pick by the White Sox's). Corey came to LSU the same time and was a intern. Corey worked S&C, Bo Pelini was the DC at this time. Corey has had stops at Utah St and Indiana before landing a job back with Bo at Nebraska. In 2007 he had an intership with Minnesota Vikings, this is part of the NFL's Minority Program. In 2007, Karl Dunbar (Former LSU player and Coach) was with the Vikings at this time, so just a guess, but Karl must have helped in this move. In 2007 Corey worked with another Les, Les Frazier, now the Head Coach of the Vikings(Hes a great DB coach). Looking at some of the kids hes recruited(Kids from Fla to Arizona), looks like they will send him anywhere to scout a kid, so when a Head Coach does this, he like this type of recruiter, someone that can close the deal. I like the hire, too many good things come up in his resume and talking with coaches. Corey isn't the only former LSU intern to end up at Nebraska, John Papuchis the DC was at LSU during Coreys internship.

This is who I was hoping we would hire. I heard lots of great things about Raymond when he was an intern at LSU. He helped us land several big recruits and was a good coach as well.

"Raymond said LSU coach Les Miles approached with an offer, but he turned him down the first time Friday.

Then Miles tried again. Raymond found he couldn't turn down the chance to return home twice."

Translation: Miles offered a substantial amount more money.

    I think it's a decent hire.

Doesn't have a ton of coaching experience (3 years at the collegiate level, 1 year at a BCS school).

His recruiting seems to be ok, although again we have a very brief track record. It appears anything will be an improvement over Cooper, who supposedly didn't really help out in that area much.
