That is still a question I can't seem to get a straight answer on. I don't know if he has an official offer from A&M at this time. Also, Brick has a special needs son. Packing up and moving up quick wouldn't be a small task. Baton Rouge has great programs for special needs kids BTW. If he leaves we owe him $100K buyout possibly (lawyer stuff, we didn't fire him) if he stays he gets $800K this year. The ball was passed to his court.
Also, the NOLA article kind of implies that Brick wants to stay at LSU... Maybe he's waiting on the possible rule change for additional coaches...
Watching the Finebaum show, one of the ESPN recruiting guys just said O is the best recruiter in the modern era of college football. Another bright side, we shall now have all of our coaches on the sidelines and not up in some stupid box watching the show.
Yaw has always been known as a great recruiter, but so was Haley. It'll been interesting to see if Steele is an upgrade in recruiting over chief. Both have been rumored to not liking recruiting. I like the idea of coaches being on the sideline where they can actually coach during the game.
Most coordinators sit in the pressbox because you can see the whole field a lot better than you can on the sidelines. Its pretty important to know everything that is happening when you are calling the plays.

Brick is a great recruiter but Coach O is on another level. Brick had to pick up the slack because of Chavis. He worked his butt off probably more than he should of if we are being honest. He had to travel everywhere day-in and day-out. Coach O lives and breathes this stuff. He talent evaluated and recruited kids with no job and no program to send these players to.
[QUOTE="LSUDad, post: 1444617, member: What? Steele was recruiter of the year before[/QUOTE]] Do some reading, read a couple of TerryP's posts. While you'll have to look through his Gump glasses he does have some insight.
I understand that trade off, but if you can't tell what's going on from the sideline you probably shouldn't be a major college coach. Slightly easier to call plays and defenses from the box, impossible to coach from there.
