I have a hard time believing Brick did not know this was going to happen due to the reports that he was the one pushing for Steele. And like someone said the O hire probably has been done for a while, so he had to know he would be moved. If he was unhappy about it he could have left already. I like the idea of having another coach on staff and he may be waiting for that. If not we can get rid of Ensminger and keep Brick for defense. I still can't figure out what Ensminger is even doing on staff.

I am glad we got Coach O on board he definitely will be a big boost in recruiting and motivation on the D. I have to say I am a little concerned with the Steele hire based on his track record as DC but I will hold judgment on it until we see them on the field.

Coach O should have been the DC and Steele could have been brought on as the LB coach.

South Lafourche Tarpons!! Go Big Blue! Glad to see a fellow Cajun coaching at LSU. Although he should have been the DC instead of Steele.

Maybe the plan is for big O to become DC in a few years? Likely, Steele is the better choice at DC currently, based on experience at that position.

    Miles on Coach O hire
    Jan 14, 2015 -- 12:02pm
“Ed is an expert when it comes to the defensive line,” Miles said. “He will bring tremendous enthusiasm and energy to our program. His passion and love for the state of Louisiana makes him a great fit for us.

“Ed has done a great job at every coaching stop he’s made. His teams are always well prepared, played hard on every snap and fed off the enthusiasm and excitement that he brought to the field. This is a great hire for us and we are really excited about Coach O becoming a Tiger.”

It’s easy to sound like hyperbole, but this addition is about as big as it gets. One SEC recruiting coordinator called it a “seismic moment for everybody in the conference,” and another said Tigers fans have to be absolutely giddy with the news.

“LSU just landed the biggest five-star recruit out there,” one of the assistants said. “They already had Frank Wilson, one of the best recruiters around, doing his thing. Then they hired Kevin Steele, and everybody knows how good of a job he does. But adding Coach O to the staff? Wow. I don’t know what else to say. It’s a game-changer.”
