Not to pick on Sourdoughman because Lord knows he isn't the first but this poor woman, Mrs. Obama, has been called everything but a Saint and all she's really done is to promote a healthier diet and excercise program for all Americans but specifically for children. Mean time, I have heard that she is no longer allowing anyone to refer as December 25th as Christmas Day or that she is longer calling the White House tree a Christmas tree or that she is nosing around and trying to tell people what to eat. It's ridiculous and I honestly cannot attribute this negative speak about her to something that extends beyond political beliefs. Politics aside she is a great role model and an advocate for the betterment of the American people just like Laura Bush was during her term as the First Lady. We could all start by recognizing that we can disagree with someone's politics without dragging their entire life and family into the fray.

Again, I hope this isn't mistaken as a referendum on Sourdoughman; his comment wasn't even negative about Mrs. Obama but it did jog my memory and make me think about the last time when I heard someone say anything nice about this woman.

You are misinterpreting what I was trying to say here, I said whatever they saw fit meaning whatever they wanted to do about gun laws. I should have researched it or provided a link before guessing. Many Americans are alarmed by this administration. That is why guns and ammo sales are like they have been.
There is no doubt the Supreme court is 5-4 in favor of the second amendment. I think you all are clearly wrong on this one. The Liberals have the 4 votes against the second amendment. All Obama has to do is elect 1 or 2 more and there goes the second amendment and lord knows what else.
Its ok, if you two want a country different without the second amendment or the Constitution just admit it. That is what hope and change and transformation was all about. I know liberals on FB that don't think we need the Constitution or Bill of Rights.
    Here is the link...

When Americans flock to the polls in 13 months, we will not simply decide which direction our country should take over the next four years. Rather, we will decide whether or not our fundamental, individual right to keep and bear arms will survive over the next several decades.

I have no problems with you and what you believe and no offense taken. I would agree on some instances about what you are saying but I disagree on this gun issue because of what she has said. If she is going to get in an arena and speak then she deserves to be praised or criticized just like you or I or anyone else.

Also I don't mind first ladies doing what they do but I have a problem with what is going in this country and it may not be her fault in this instance.
In North Carolina and somewhere else government officials have gone through kids lunches, declared them no nutritious enough, taken them away.
Giving kids new lunches from the lunch room and then charging the parents for these meals.
Student's lunch taken away for not being nutritious enough

I don't know, I know some don't have any problems with an ultra power nanny state or government power like never before but some DO!

Honestly, I don't know much about what the First Lady said about gun control so I cannot speak with any knowledge of the subject. Regarding the school lunches, etc. I would say that there is a right and wrong way to go about anything. I have also heard rumors of lunches being taken away from kids and would never condone such a thing. That said, school lunches could also be made more nutritious for the benefit of the kids. there is a fine line between having a program that encourages people to eat healthier and one that forces them to do so. I would agree that taking away a kids lunch from home is not okay. I don't, however, think that is what the First Lady is advocating. I also would never want a nanny state or big brother staring over my shoulder but there is a difference between the First Lady encouraging kids to eat healthier and excercise and officials at the school district or school level taking away a kids lunch. You know as well as I that there are just people in this world who take their power a little too seriously and do stupid things like take a kids lunch away.

I do agree with your post but the problem is we don't know the details. It is clear thought that we have crossed that line. According to this article and according to this story involving this little girl and her class it is clearly no rumor. I do know how people can be I have had to deal with an HOA before!

I know. But I still can't find anything where Obama says he wants to do whatever he sees fit on gun laws. I did find this . . .

I can find no proposal by Obama to make drastic changes to gun ownership laws. After the Giffords shooting he emphasized the need to better enforce the gun laws we already have. What's wrong with that?

This is an unjustified and irrational fear. In 2008, the Supreme Court ruled that the Second Amendment establishes a fundamental right of law-abiding individuals to keep a handgun in their home for self-protection. In 2010, the high court extended that ruling to apply Second Amendment guarantees beyond federal enclaves like Washington, D.C., to all state and local jurisdictions. There has been absolutely no effort to overturn the Second Amendment to the Constitution and no reason to suspect that one lurks around the corner.

    No, it wasn't.

I guarantee you that gun control will not be a major issue in the 2012 election. And it's only 8 months.

Did you really read this article? Michelle Obama says absolutely nothing about gun ownership in the article. Not a word. It's all hysterical irrational blogging by the director of the NRA's lobbyist group! He entirely mischaracterizes the Supreme court cases he mentions and talks about his irrational fears and paranoid delusions about the future as if they are fact.

The NRA has too many lobbyists and too much money for guns to be taken away from people. It's just not going to happen until the NRA starts losing money. And if that ever happens, then I would be worried.

Then it will be too late, no reason to worry.

AGAIN that was a remark made by Michelle Obama that some have been writing about.

Maybe but maybe not, people as of now have a constitutional right to keep and bear arms and their rights as law abiding citizens have still been violated.
Examples, DC Gun Ban, any other cities, law abiding citizens guns taken away after Hurricane Katrina. They weren't returned either, It was up to the law abiding citizen to collect them. Clearly they weren't allowed to defend themselves or their properties if they were collected.
Oh yes it is, Many of the processes this administration has done is and will be unconstitutional. Obama himself has said he doesn't care about the process as long as his agenda such as healthcare gets done.
He took the oath of office and has violated it on several occasions one being is that he hasn't defended the southern borders. There are signs and places Americans are warned to stay out of because of drug trafficking.
I have heard clips of him talking about the founders and the Constitution makes it very difficult for him to bring change like he wanted to do. There are videos on You Tube.
I guarantee you it won't either, never said it was. Just found it interesting.
I guarantee you this election will be about gas prices followed by the economy, unemployment maybe even the debt.
This president should not be re-elected by all of those reasons.
Stimulus package, shovel ready jobs and then laughed about it when it didn't materialize.
NO, you are clearly wrong or didn't understand it, she said this...
"When Americans flock to the polls in 13 months, we will not simply decide which direction our country should take over the next four years. Rather, we will decide whether or not our fundamental, individual right to keep and bear arms will survive over the next several decades."

Well I know you like to blame sources but what Michelle said wasn't even covered in most of the media. One thing I have learned is that the media has cheerleaders on both sides. They both only cover what they see fit.
Naturally I have tried for years to find certain information from both sides and it is simply unavailable for both sides depending on where they stand.
Again, you can't argue the balance is 5-4, people are that close to losing their right to keep and bear arms. The bans in cities are just part of this direction. I know some don't care about this issue and that is fine but clearly this country is headed in the wrong direction as far as the Constitution and the Bill of Rights are concerned.
I know some Obama supporters want to do away with those, they want us just like Europe and other countries, that is what hope and change is all about, National healthcare is just another step in that direction.

I would challenge you to provide evidence of this as it is a very serious accusation. Funny thing is I heard my liberal friends saying the same thing when GWB was in office but neither is true or correct.

This is typical GOP rhetoric. Every time something doesn't jive with their narrative they blame it on the "lame stream" media. This gets old and makes you sound like Sarah Palin.

You are falling for the propaganda that the GOP throws out before every election:

1 - be very careful because those liberals are going to make everyone turn in their guns

2 - there is a war on religion and all christians should be careful not to be persecuted.

I'm not saying that the Dems don't do the same thing with their hot button issues but it gets old from both sides. It is so predictable.

I have to disagree with you about the upcoming election. The Republicans do not have a candidate that can beat Obama. I'm not being partisan here nor facetious but the Republicans do not have a charismatic candidate to challenge Obama. Plus the Repubs are not introducing anything new to the electorate. Doing the same old same old is a loser every time.
