I agree with you guys, it is amazing how people will stand up for "their" politician or leaders. Don't forget the power aspect of this also. The military can now arrest you and put you in jail for no reason if they want, just claim war on terror and hold you permanently until they say its over.

I have been phrasing what you are talking about this way....
We can raise endless amounts of money for campaigns but we can't raise the money to pay off the nations debt. Its all about the politicians and to hell with the country or what is left of it.

While I believe you are correct you may have a hard time proving that to a liberal government. If this were to pass then the current administration would try to enforce it. We would be almost powerless to stop it.

All the people who say "they can have my gun when they pry it from my cold dead fingers" may have to prove it to be true.

America is doomed. It really doesn't matter who is elected President, money rules. I don't think guns will ever be outlawed because the NRA has way too many lobbyists and they have money to buy off politicians. Sad part, is that type of sh!t is legal. And don't take this the wrong way, I'm not anti-gun, just the process itself is sad. Any industry can throw tons of money at politicians legally, to buy them off so they will or won't vote for certain bills.

Doomed might be a bit strong at this point, although I would agree the trajectory doesn't look promising. That said, we HAVE to get the money out of politics and should begin by enacting a law that over turns the Citizens United decision. Take the money out of the game and watch how many of those fat cats never run for office again and suddenly want to spend more "family time."

It does seem like special interest $$$ has ensnared all of politics. Republicans and Democrats are so manipulated, that American Politics seems to be little more than ridiculous marionette theater. The puppet masters allow their heads to bobble in different directions, but their bodies are pulled down the same path by the same strings.

The good news is,.. This Is America. When the major majority of us become too pissed off,.. things change quickly. Nothing can stop a surging democracy,.. I think we're just preparing for the next great American moment.

Only problem is the only way it's going to change is the politicians themselves start taking special interest dollars out of the equation, and that's not going to happen. It's not the United States of America anymore, it's America Inc. And when I say this country is doomed, I'm not talking about anything in the next 10 to 20 years, but it's coming.

I hate to beat a dead horse, well not really, I'll kick the sh!t out of that dead motherfu**er. Pot. Everything that the powers that be said that was bad about Marijuana has been debunked, Marijuana would bring tons of revenue, it's harmless, it's never killed 1 person, it has medical value, antioxidants, pain reliever, it's natural, and at one point it was completely legal, and extremely valuable. But..... Alcohol, drug industries, tobacco companies, and oil and gas companies throw tons of money at politicians to keep it illegal. Plus, private prisons make tons of money with it being illegal because it puts more people in jail. How do you compete with that?

The government subsidizes the tobacco industry, an industry that kills over 400,000 Americans each year. I'm sick of the sh!t going on in this country, because if you have enough money you can legally buy off politicians, and that is ridiculous.

No US government is going to make citizens accountable to foreign gun laws on US soil. It's an irrational fear.

Maybe but I hear rumors and at this point I get that they are JUST rumors.
I think some of it came from something Michelle Obama said a while back that if this president is re-elected they are going to do what they can to fix gun laws or try and do whatever they see fit.

Btw LaSalle knows I agree with him on the pot issue and you guys seem to be headed in the same direction I am and did state this morning in the gas prices thread.
IT is about dollars, it is no different than the parties and there "interest" groups raising endless amounts of money during campaign season while the country goes broke.

We have 2 parties that are failing their obligations to protecting and defending this country and that includes our finances. There is absolute no way anyone in power today should be re-elected on NOV 4th in my book, anyone who is running this time around anyway.
The American people have to hold these people accountable for their actions or in-actions.

    1. Michelle Obama is not an elected official and has no power to do anything.

    2. Got a source where anyone acutally says that they would do "whatever they saw fit"?
