I get nervous for almost every game unless we're playing the likes of Northwestern State, Middle Tennessee State, or this year's Kentucky team. I've followed LSU football religiously for over 50 years. This year's team is the most talented, deepest, best coached LSU team in my lifetime. It's not even close. You younger guys don't know how rare it is for LSU to beat Florida, Tennesse, Auburn, Missisippi State, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Alabama, and Arkansas all in the same season. Enjoy the ride fellas, it doesn't happen that often. It WILL happen this year though. I like the four year national championship cycle we're enjoying. 2003, 2007, and it's now 2011. The cherry on the cake for every Tiger fan is to experience an undefeated national champion. This is our year. What's different is that we don't have to hope for luck. We've got the players and the coaches to do it. It really cracks me up when I read that the Gumps and the national press feel that they have an advantage in coaching with Satan over CLM. I wouldn't trade them even if I it were possible. They're both great coaches but CLM has more moxie and we can always count on him to keep the other team off balance with gutsy play calling in crunch time. Satan's teams are conservative, colorless, grind it out. They blew a 24 point lead to Auburn last year. They aren't invincible, even if they drink they're own red Kool Aid. I didn't despise Satan when he went to the Miami Fish, but when he went to Gumpville, I realized he was just Suitcase Saban. My two favorite teams are LSU and the Gump's opponent. On November 6th, I'll be ecstatic for two reasons. Our victory, and knowing how Satan and the Gumps will be pulling their hair out. GEAUX TIGERS! :LSU231: :crystal:
To be honest, I am less nervous about this game than any of the other key matchups we have had so far. After the AU game, I finally admitted to myself, LSU is the best overall team in college football right now. Better than the Gumps enough that I am very confident we will win this game. :thumb:
All the skeerdy cats in here were nervous ... I came in after a fashionably long hiatus ... and predicted LSU would run the table going 14 - 0 Hell, I even wrote a poem about it ... Was laughed at and ridiculed with most predicting a 9-3 season and some BS sophomore jinx for Tyrex ... Who's laughing now (doublebird icon ... you know who you are) LSU gutstomps Alabama 38 - 13 (+/- 7 either way = gutstomp) and runs Nick out of the SEC ... Mark it ... Stoops took the easy way out because he didn't want his arse beat again ... So it looks like Miles old team OSU ... whoever ... But it won't be BAMA
I don't get nervous about these games anymore. I think it has something to do with winning crystals and super bowls. Still, this will be the most difficult game of the year - for both teams. No denying that. I want a clean game with hopefully no injuries and minimal ref interference. May the best team win. That is all. :geauxtige
Look guys, when we talk about ooc teams not being able to handle sec defenses, we are talking about LSU and BAMA. When we talk about ooc teams not being able to handle sec power football, we are talking about LSU and bama. When we talk about ooc teams not being able to match sec big men we are talking about lsu and bama's big men. This bama team is every bit as big and physical as lsu. To think any other way is foolish. We are playing our mirror image. We are playing the other side of the sec is dominate coin. We will not blow bama out the stadium. If we play our best we win. Anything less we lose. This game is as important to them as to us. Anyone that sees this game as if we were playing uo or wvu is delusional. Lsu wins if they are the most physical team. Bama wins if they are. This isn't a football game. This is a heavyweight championship fight. Someone kicks arse, someone takes an arse whipping. The team that punches the other in the mouth the hardest wins. There is no style points in sec power football. This is the defination of power football.
