All of those except Houston were back in the 6-team regional days. You had to win 4 or possibly 5 (if you came out of the losers bracket) to advance back then.
the 6 team regionals were much better than this contrived super regional bs. cal st beat us here before. USCw almost did but we had to beat them 2 in a row. brett boone almost won the series by himself for the trojans. I think he batted about .600 with quite a few homers. I got one of em. jeff cirillo who played with the brewers forever was on that team as well.
Defending Champs are done. Virginia loses to William & Mary 5-4. Wow. After winning 17-4 in their opening game (against W&M), they get beat twice in a row.
