You knew it wouldn't take long with a thread like this. The bait was just too strong. I agree with him though. Reggie is a burden.

Well, now he's our only hope.

With PT rumored to join Ivory on the IR, we will lean on him heavily during the playoffs.

He'll either earn a new contract or he won't.

I'm rooting for him b/c we NEED him.

I sure hope Coach Payton feels the same way.

Here is a pretty good column by Jeff Duncan of the TP.

Just read this and it got me to thinking, along with a little number crunching.
Year by year, Bush's average number of touches from scrimmage (not special teams) per game, and yards per touch:

    2006 - 15.1 touches, 5.3 ypc
    2007 - 19.1 touches, 4.1 ypc
    2008 - 15.8 touches, 5.3 ypc
    2009 - 8.3 touches, 6.2 ypc
    2010 - 8.7 touches, 5.1 ypc

The question I had in mind was, could Payton's platooning of backs (which limits RB's touches) be hurting his production? And by extension, could more touches allow him to get into a rhythm that's been missing, and allow him to be more productive? The numbers suggest not; in '07 when Deuce was hurt and Bush had to be "The Man", he had his worst yards per touch average. Then again, that was over the course of about 12 games. Now he only needs to man up for 4 games in 5 weeks, and with a national spotlight in every game, which you know he craves. Just trying to have a little optimism here.

no. Backs that get into rhythm are one's who inflict punishment and run tough between the tackles. bush is often pulled for his insane rate of fumbling and his lack of durability. more touches for reggie usually mean bad news one way or the other. hes not tough enough to be an every down back or even a weekly platoon guy even though a much smaller warrick dunn was.

he will never be anything more than a scatback being paid way way too much money.

can he win a game against a team like seahawks? sure. can he be counted on every week? hell no. never could never will. if he was half the player devin hester was that would be something. clearly hes not.

yeah it was the first post i saw upon my return to the forum 2 days ago. figured i may as well start there.

reggie was asking his twitter followers when discussing the collective bargaining agreement who would let their bosses steal half their salary.

i then decided to join and told him he has a lot of room to talk since hes been stealing money all along and its much more than half of what he's actually earned.

    i dont think he replied.

so if he leaves, im hoping everyone blames me. this was before the season started. Now he owes about 3/4ths or more.

I said it about a page and half back. They should put an APB out on that fool. Grand larceny the charge. Scooter is just straight up thieving.
