I'm glad Stud got promoted because it allowed Miles to take his time and find a permanent solution to the mess Crowton left. Just think if Miles hired some "permanent" OC after Crowton and had to be loyal to him when Cam became available and had to pass on Cam. Miles promoted Stud as a long term interim OC so that he could wait and see what shook out in the long run. I agree Miles kept Crowton way too long though.
When I say the poor O falls on Miles I mean he is the HC. Ultimately, if things arent working. Be it scheme or play calling he has to fix it. I personally feel he did have a big say so in schemes and play calling the last few years. The play calling was uber conservative and predictable under both OCs and the same HC. Miles is the common denominator, which is why I think he did in fact have a lot of input. Fast forward to now, Miles brought in Cam. A coach it appears he has full faith in. Cam is calling much more aggressively than weve seen in many years, probably since '07. All I can say is no matter where this season is going Im feeling very good about the future.
Studs was one move where Les was thinking outside of football. He was putting Krags and his family above football, this is one reason I like what he did. Cam like many of the coaches I know look at stability in football coaching. Right now, LSU is one of the more stable jobs in the nation. It is also one of the better paying jobs. When an opening came at LSU a few years back, a coach I know applied. He said what I'm saying about pay and stability. It gets to a point where money isn't everything, many of the coaches I know put stability and family first. Les is one coach that wants his coaches to have that family time.
I think it has as much to do with the poor quality of quarterbacking since Flynn/Russell. The loss of Perrilloux and Zack Lee saddled LSU with quarterbacks that were not complete packages. It limited what an offense could try. Les let Jimbo air it and he let Crowton air it when he had a QB that could cut it.
This makes too much sense for some people. (Not necessarily directed at you, phenom, you seem to be coming around)
quote="lsu99, post: 1345538, member: 152"]I heard someone say today on NFL Radio that the Ravens offense started using the middle of the field much more after Cameron left last year (particularly with Pitta and Boldin). I also recall a comment from Cameron during the spring that had something to do with limiting throws over the middle because a QB doesn't always see a roving LB in coverage and it increases the risk of INTs. .[/quote] Once again after 1 game. Flacco has a QB rating of 69.4 Be good to see how this one plays out. Maybe Cam was the problem?
