Saturday night stats: During the 3rd quarter this pass chart was shown...

Passes to the left side 4 of 5 (54 yds total)
Passes to the right side 5 of 7 (69 yds)
Passes in the middle 7 for 7 ( 157 yds)

On the middle of the field Mett was 7 for 7. He was 4/4 with 124 yards and 3 TD with passes 15yds and over.

Looks like Cam has a want for the middle of the field...or maybe its Mett?

Or maybe the Ravens were crazy. Their loss, our gain!

Im sorry but I have to disagree. I think Cam is the first OC that Miles has given full reigns to. The O we are seeing now is far different from what weve seen the past few years. Whether Crowton or Stud, the O was very predictable and vanilla. I get that QB play had a lot to do with that but still, you have to open up play calling to keep the D honest and not overload. This year you dont know whats coming. The passing attack is also much more vertical, rather than in the flat or a quick curl. Im not trying to start a bash on Miles, but I definitely feel he has full confidence in Cam.

Well of course, he has full confidence in Cam, as do the rest of us. But that doesn't exactly mean that the offense over the past several seasons would have certainly been better had he been entirely hands-off. Stud should never have been promoted, and under any other normal circumstances, he wouldn't have been. That was the problem...that, and waiting too long to can Crowton. Hell, what if Miles was actually IMPROVING the offense, and it would have been even worse without his influence? That's just it...we'll never know, and that's okay.

Between the coordinators and the QBs, it was just the perfect storm for offensive ineptitude. I really feel like it's behind us now...we've weathered that storm.

Stud shouldnt have been promoted, I agree there. That said, that and the O falls on Miles because he is the HC. He is the boss, so it falls on his shoulders. There is no excuse for the O weve seen the last several years. I give it to Miles though for fixing it with a coach that he appears to be giving the full reigns to. I just hope Cam isnt going to be a one or two year coach and back to the NFL or off for a head coaching gig.

There's a lot of double speak here, though. You said the O falls on Miles becuase he is the head coach, then you said he's fixing it by giving the reigns to Cameron.

We don't know the extent to which Miles controlled the offense during the seasons of ineptitude. In 2010, for instance, Crowton was no longer the OC for the Cotton Bowl, and we really opened up the passing game in that one. Jefferson had a great night. Who, exactly, was the OC for the bowl? Was it Miles? Was it Stud?

Stud kept his job after '11 because we had an LSU-record setting offense that year. We didn't have serious problems until very late in the season (but the offense didn't look like the one we're running now.)

The offense also didn't look the same when Crowton was OC.

Miles has been the head coach all that time, and many assume he was messing with the offense (which you said falls on his shoulders, anyway). Still, we don't really know.

That being said, I'm enjoying fielding an offense that is much less offensive--so far.

I feel like Cam's been there, done that. He failed miserably as a HC, and the spoiled brats that play in the NFL have more power over coaches than they should, and I'm not sure anybody would want to go through what he went through again. He was vilified by the fans and overpowered by the players, and for what?

Here, he is a rock star. We love him, and as long as his offenses work (and since it's not a gimmick, there's no reason it won't) he should always feel welcomed here. He's making over a mil a year, and although you can make more in the NFL, how much do you really need? How much can you spend in a year? As an older guy, he's probably learned that lesson already and will be just fine with his seven-figures.
