I heard someone say today on NFL Radio that the Ravens offense started using the middle of the field much more after Cameron left last year (particularly with Pitta and Boldin). I also recall a comment from Cameron during the spring that had something to do with limiting throws over the middle because a QB doesn't always see a roving LB in coverage and it increases the risk of INTs.

I've always wanted more involvement with TEs in the passing game. However, I remember Lee (early in career and against Bama in Sr. year) having a few struggles throwing over the middle. It also seems like we want Mett (with his big arm) throwing towards the sidelines when Beckham or Landry has single coverage.

Should we get the TEs involved more or not? I do think we need to get the RBs some catches out of the backfield.

Well...we got 450 yards and 37 points out of one the best defenses in college football...so you tell me? Do we NEED to?

LOL, I'm sure there will come a time when the WRs are just shut down, and when that happens, the TE will show up "out of nowhere" to change the game. But as long as you're completing passes to your receivers at ten yards a pop, you take it and be happy about it. Don't FORCE the TE or the RB into the passing game just for the sake of doing it.

Go back an look, the Wr's were open. Cam will take what you give him, like I said, in the second half, he was starting to set up the defense. Once he was there, it was over. Cam had full control of the game. You could see him at times taking his food off the gas, changing the speed of the game. This was a small portion of his playbook. I've enjoyed what I've see so far.

No offense, but if this is new information to people then they should just refrain from commenting on football. For anyone that has playd the game at any level, this is already known. It's precisely why the plays called last weekend resembled the plays called last season. The difference was execution and the order in which some were called.

Still ran on first down mostly, but we also saw more passing on first than usual and it was successful. We saw the screens still, but TCU sniffed them out and held the backs, so we stopped calling it. TEs were not much of a target, but the two starting receivers were money against probably the best secondary in the country. Above all, the QB had time to throw thanks to fantastic O-Line play.

Nothing revolutionary was called. Just good, ole, assignment football and taking what the defense gives you...

Look like we hit the middle good Saturday night, along with the deep throws, we used much of what they gave us, the rest, we took.

Looking back, Pitta started most games at TE, under Cam, the most passes caught by a TE in a game(8), most catches avg. per game(3.75), even after Cam left the TE's only avg. a half a catch per game more. The two games where Boldin had the most catches, Cam was the OC. We'll see how they do this year without Cam. There was talk that he used Ray Rice too much, then talk, he didn't use him enough.

I know this, I'm glad he was let go. LSU is better for this. A coach that makes adjustment during the game. Knows where he wants to go. He attacks a defense, he was dialing up what he wanted in the second half and there wasn't much TCU could do about it.

I'd listen to the radio tomorrow, as of now, Denver 35 Ravens 17. Somehow, it's Cams fault. Flacco's 22-43 going into the 3rd.

Good post, yes when a play is called helps. But one other thing to remember, defenses used our substitutions against us last year. Now substitutions or formations tell you nothing. Cam will run/pass out of any formation with any personnel.

No offense taken here. I posted that in response to the rabid pontificating - not just on this board, but on national TV - that Miles was probably going to "handcuff" Cam just like he "handcuffed" Stud and Crowton. Their whole argument was just flawed, and it showed that they are better at parroting others' opinions than they are at making their own.

And this here is absolutely crucial to success, and a huge reason we have not had success on offense for the last few seasons.
