a little shows that stoerner wasnt hit. i remember now that my problem with the play is that the ground caused the fumble.

"Moving ahead is what Stoerner has done since that foggy evening in Knoxville, Tenn., when he pulled out of center, tripped on the foot of guard Brandon Burlsworth and fumbled trying to brace his fall with his right hand -- the one holding the ball."

I say everyone should go back to the good ol' dropkick on fieldgoals...

Had Matt Flynn not been faking the socks off of your Gators and the kicker missed the ball and it rolled free and was picked up by one of your Gators and returned for a touchdown, you would not be making such an uninformed and frankly stupid remark about the knee touching the ground. With your reasoning, a fieldgoal would never be successful with the holders knee on the ground. The ball would be dead as soon as the snap was received by the holder. Think about it rocket scientist, if there weren't an exception on fieldgoals, we'd still be doing drop kicks.
In fairness I don't blame you for the try. If I could think up a similarly dumb remark about some rule to counter the underhanded little chuck pass that Tebo burned us with the year before, you'd be calling me dumbass.
    Better luck next year

not a good start to the forum. no one in this thread is a gator. you might want to become informed and learn who the regulars are before you start flaming.

we also have regulars here that are from rival teams. i would recommend you not flame them either. they add to the forum greatly.

This play, believe it or not, was even discussed earlier this year on our forum. The college rule is the holder can take the snap with his knee down as long as the kicker is in a position to kick. Hence, if the kicker has gone in motion and vacated his position, the holder must take the snap with his knee off the ground. It appeared on the replay that the kicker had vacated his position prior to the placement of the snap... obviously the refs believed he hadn't.

"In position to kick" means "behind the holder". The kicker did not cross the line of the hold until he had the ball.
