With the lead official being from Louisiana and a graduate of LSU you would think we would get a fair shake in the game. I am in no way blaming the game on bad calls but Chicago gets 1 penalty the whole game. Thats hard to believe any team can play a game with only one penalty.
My nephew pointed that out to me and said he witnessed at least 4 holding calls on the Bears that were never called. I surely didn't think the officiating had a profound effect on the outcome of the game.
I was at the game. Thought the officiating was right on, but may not have seen it all. The only call that was BS was the Micahel Lewis fumbe. He was down, IMO.
The problem with the fumble was the initial call. What surprised me was in fast motion, it looked like the ground caused the fumble. And in most cases, the benefit of the doubt is given and it is ruled down by contact. The replay official was correct in not overturning it as the initial shift of the ball in Lewis' hand made it inconclusive as to whether he regained possession or had sufficient possession of the ball not to call it a fumble. Conversely, had the initial call been down by contact (which it should have been), then the replay official could not have overturned it in that case as well. It was basically too close to call anyway you look at it.
I guess I was also the only one that saw at LEAST 2 block in the backs!!! Whatever!!! With confidence I can say SEE YA NEXT YEAR!!! I love that feeling!!!
You a Bears fan? Or do you mean being a Saints fan you can confidently say that we are going to be in a similiar position next season?
That is SOMEWHAT misleading. I know the Saints declined at least 2 penalties, so that means they were actually flagged at least 3 times. However, that was still a onesided number.
7 versus 3. It wasn't overwhelming. The only bad call I saw was the interference call on Copper. The fumble was costly on Lewis and could have easily been called down by contact. That was unfortunate but by no means a horrible call. I've seen a lot worse.
Dem fighting words sir...me a Bears fan...better leave the calculator at home and bring boxing gloves!!! LOL!!!
Ouch....I have been arguing with a good friend of mine about the Bears all day today (Grossman, how the game was won and lost, etc) This may get ugly....lol I think we as adults can have a civil discussion, however. Somehow. lol
