see, shouldn't the burden of proof fall on the people who claim something DOES exist rather than fall on the people who claim that something does NOT exist?
again, do you this with islam? lie in bed and say "i might be pissing off muhammad and allah by being a christian" do you lie in bed worrying that perhaps some random person is god? lets say skip bertman, do you lie in bed wondering if skip bertman is god? he might be, right, cant prove he isnt? maybe you should bring some fresh-baked cookies to his house just in case. so why is skip bertman less likely to be god than your christian god? there is the same amount of evidence for both. hell, how many teams has jesus taken to omaha? the idea that i will make up **** and then worry if it is true, this is ludicrous.
right. the atheists are taking the easy way out. when your loved ones die, and you are destroyed, and you tell yourself a bucket of lies about how they are in a better place partying in heaven with jesus and jimi hendrix, and you will see them again, and i actually accept the horrible reality, which of us is taking the easy way out? which of us is the coward then?
absolutely i have. dont think that the transformation from a southern baptist to athiest happens overnight. years of questioning. so what? does that mean that i took the easy way out? for me the really tough part, so far, is my feelings for my parents. theyve bought into the religion thing pretty hard. i know they are disappointed in me and particularly with themselves. but what am i going to do, believe in god for them?
i have converted many friends, and this is always the biggest stumbling block, guilt and the feeling that the parents will fear for their souls. most friends just never tell their parents. on the other hand, some folks have it easy. my nieces and nephews are being raised without any religion, (or without any theism, or literally a-theism) and they are already fully aware of how absurd the idea of wizards and sorcerer gods are. without any atheist indoctrination it is apparent that magic is false is apparent to rational beaings. its takes years of lying to children to convince most folks. if we would just stop lying to our children that would be the end of it.
seems pretty arrogant of you assume that {fill in the black with any religious belief} isnt true. you should worry that you might be wrong.
No, you said do I assume that God is some random person like Skip Bertman. So, no I don't think God is random but specific. I think that I am God. What is arrogant about that?
