This one doesn't matter that much to me. I'm a national league guy. Having no favorite, I look for something to identify with. In this case, Paul Byrd and the Indians. I loved watching that guy pitch for the Tigers. Good to see him still around after all the years, all the teams he's pitched for. Has had a pretty decent year and tonite, so far so good, a 4 hit shutout through 5. But it may be just a matter of time before manram or ortiz sends one of those 89 mph fastballs to the moon. Will be interesting to see whether Kenny Lofton returns to baseball next year or files for Social Security.
I'm thinking maybe the Sox need to be on the brink of elimination before taking their heads out their arses. Or to be down 7-0. Youk, Papi, and Manny just went Back-Back-Back.
Game over. I'm bummed out. I am a Sox fan. They'll get back to Boston IMO, with Beckett going in game 5, but I don't think even the amazing jyro ball will be enough to keep the Indians from heading to the World Series.
You are right on. Huge payrolls often gaurantee winning the division, or making it in as the wild card, but it has hardly gauranteed World Series championships or even appearances.
