I am not starting this thread to start any crap or down any players, but after all that happened with the Jan 9th game and the player bashing and death threats on a certain recruit and the social media, if I was a recruit coming out of anywhere and I can gather all of this information, what would make me want to come and play for a school where its fan's act like this. Could we please make this a civil conversation and Im not on any bandwagon's or anything, just making an observation.
The problem is not unique to LSU. Every fan base has its idiots. Unfortunately, this tiny minority is usually very vocal.
And with social media as it is today, I think it makes it worse and the sky is falling being discussed and the bashing of players is obsurd. I just cant seem to do that to these kids, no matter how good or bad they play, attacking them on a personal note is just wrong to me and if people dont think that they come on these sites and read what is written about them is wrong, just saying...
I agree that people shouldn't bash players, but it happens in every fan base. There is a very vocal minority in every fan base that hate their own lives so much that they feel important bashing 18-22 yr old kids on the internet. smh
I certainly don't agree with death threats. But as soon as you start getting things for your services, being either money or a full scholorship to a great university there's expectations that go along with that. If I do a really crappy job at work my boss chews me out. If these adults (if you're of age to fight for your country, you're a man) can't take someone being upset if they underachieve, then they might as well give up on life. Doesn't matter what you do in life you're gonna have to answer to someone. For people who play sports it's fans / coaches. That might be more pressure than your boss at McDonalds, but if you succeed you're certainly gonna get paid a lot more too. Point is, if you play sports, have thick skin.
Oh, I thought I was reading a recruit got death threats. Has probably happened, but that is way out there.
